MH/s?

Didn't you JUST get into mining? That'd be something like 15 to 30 R9 290X's worth of mining rigs.

Approximately 18 R9 290X's, actually. Not sure why you're so incredulous - I finished this (http://imgur.com/LgWH9y6) last week and finished the second one last night. Both are currently keeping my garage quite toasty, and I've got the parts for another 2 racks on the way.

Each rack is currently running approximately 15,660 mH/s.

Sure. I just got into mining. I learn things fast, this stuff is easy. EE/ME/CE by trade.

Between 15-30? That's a HUGE difference. lol

Well, yes - I have to decide if I turn one of my racks over to AKC for half a day, or two. Decisions, decisions..

Incredulous is over the top. He's just confirming something that is certainly out of the ordinary. Not setting it up, which TBH is mostly easy... though there can be very irritating challenges. It's the money involved. You asked me the other day when I said "good luck" or something to that effect. It will take you a long time to break even on these cards. Did you pay current MSRP?

Mining is an investment thing FIRST. The markets have been swinging down the past 2 weeks, so that has to make you worry. Unless you're horrible at investing. Also, winter will be coming to an end eventually.

Just making sure that wasn't a typo.

I'll be honest: I haven't been keeping up terribly much on the thread here lately. There's been a lot more chaff than useful information going on, so I've only been skimming. And I generally don't click on image hosting links directly, and if images are inlined I usually don't see them especially if I'm skimming on a break while at work because most image hosts are blocked. I've actually been busy on a couple other forums between a couple other side projects and also keeping up with maintenance on the pools.

So please don't be offended... I didn't know you went "all in". Congratz on the setup. Mighty impressive.

You're more than welcome to hop on. As of last check I know my pool has at least 40 pre-registrations. I have no idea exactly what people are bringing to the party in terms of hash rate, but hopefully we'll see blocks flying left and right.

Between 15-30? That's a HUGE difference. lol

@ SunnyD : Also would like to confirm the AKC thing. When should I point my paulty 1.4 mH at your pool.....?

Also, confirming that this is a scam coin. Don't care. It's a gamble. :biggrin:

I personally haven't heard anything directly from the coin's dev despite PM'ing them. I was sort of expecting a confirmation of some sort with at least instructions on how they're handling the wallet launch for the pools, but I'm guessing there will just be a general update and that's that.

Basically, what I'd do if you want to set up for as soon as the pool is ready is:
- Log into the pool and setup your workers beforehand
- get your cgminer (you use cgminer right?) conf file set up and ready with the pool stratum added
- set the priority for the pool to 0 and set failover to NOT disable failed pools

That way you'll happily continue mining whatever pool is next in your priority queue, but as soon as the stratum for the AKC pool comes up cgminer will detect it, test stability and within 5 minutes should automatically switch to it and start mining given the higher priority. (I'm pretty sure you can change the stability test timeout as well, but I don't know what the parameter is off the top of my head)

And yes, it probably is a scamcoin, but aren't they all?

Well, he also mentioned that these rigs are in his 4-car garage, so I'm guessing he's not exactly digging change out of the couch cushions.

Which doesn't change your point, of course; ROI should be a concern to everybody, whether they've got a single 280x or several racks full like Virge. However, I think most of us have decided on a level of investment that we're comfortable with, knowing that cryptocoins are very speculative at this point.

I have a direct connection with a VAR dealing out of Korea. I sourced my R9 290x's in bulk for significantly less than MSRP. My Cap Ex per rig is roughly $3300, so ten grand a rack. ROI at current DGE value is ~40 days. If it all goes belly-up I can sell the cards for a hell of a lot more than I bought them for and take maybe a 10% loss on the remaining equipment, so I'd sell the hardware for more than I paid for it. To me this makes it a no-brainer, I'm willing to risk 40k (hard to call it a risk really when my assets value exceeds my cap ex) for the potential returns being multiples of 100x. Worst case scenario I'm out my time and a few months of high electricity bills.

Already signing paperwork for a data center cage so cooling won't be an issue come summer. I've worked with colo's a lot in the past.

Sounds like you got it covered.

Nice rigs BTW. Those are a thing of beauty. Mine are ... not as aesthetically pleasing, to put it mildly.

Use Coins-e. I have been using them for months without issue.

Do not... EVER... use Coins-e. You're lucky you haven't had an issue, but if you do ever have an issue, they have absolutely ZERO support. I've been waiting for ~1 month for a response to my support ticket regarding ~$100 worth of coins that are missing.

I highly suggest CoinEx.pw

I know how to set the priority in the config file, but I can't find a readme explaining the failover commands and their functions. Is the following what you're saying to use?

"no-pool-disable" : false,

So I just noticed a huge problem...

All my mining pools that I registered with are linked to my main e-mail. Same e-mail and password. I don't remember where I signed up and I want to close ALL the accounts I'm not using. Is there a way to track it?

Also because I won't be able to switch to mining to AKC as soon as it launches, can I have SGMiner pointed to AKC right now? Or would I lose the next 4 hours of mining?

?? Man I can't even tell you how many millions of Doge I have moved through there in the last month from my 20Mh/s farm. Never had one single issue.

sgminer is a fork of cgminer. It uses the EXACT same type of setup as cgminer does. You can set up a conf file using (most of) the same settings as you would for cgminer and have it do the same thing that I described a few posts up.

Whoops I missed that. How do I set up the fail-over though? I don't have a fail-over line in my file. I guess that's good?

That's the one.

Since I can't find a readme on it, what are the functions of false|true?

Intuition suggestions

true = does not disable a pool after failing over
false = disables a pool after failing over until CGminer is restarted

Am I correct in assuming I want to use "true"?

Why close them? Get your coins out, make sure your passwords aren't the same as elsewhere, and even if the pool got hacked or whatever, there's no way for you to lose anything if you're not mining there.

That is correct. You should have the following in your conf file:

"failover-only" : true,
"no-pool-disable" : true,

Whoops I missed that. How do I set up the fail-over though? I don't have a fail-over line in my file. I guess that's good?

See above. Add them to your conf file.

I'm "fairly certain" that they should be compatible with sgminer.

Woah. Any chance you live near the DC area and would start offering tours of your facilities to curious onlookers like myself? That just sounds really cool to see.

Doge difficulty @ 1800. Seems like I'm @ stand still now with my weak rig. LTC @ 2600.

Local guy selling those dual USB miners on Craig's List. I know they are crap for their price, but just saying they are in the wild for the low end consumer and that means there are probably other scrypt-asic miners being used as well right now.

I'm still profitable, but TBH I should probably just sell my current cards while prices are jacked up. Tempting.

70 KH for $120? yeah right... Same thing goes with in dual mode. They aren't there yet. I don't see what the market would be for these, until they get MUCH faster.

Here is an example of a failover bat file in case anyone prefers this method:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
pause
G:\Downloads\cgminer-3.7.2-windows\cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://FAST-POOL.COM:3333 -u -p -d 1 -I 16 --thread-concurrency 8192 -g 1 -w 256 --failover-only -o stratum+tcp://188.165.164.185:80 -u -p

You probably want to take that username out of the script - don't want to open yourself up to hacking.

@Virge
Similar sentiment for those asking for a tour of Virge's setup - I'd strongly recommend that Virge NOT tell people he knows IRL about his setup or where he lives, etc. Because there will be people who would use that information towards burglary or worse.

I hate having to write the above because I used to be a trusting, naive person but I've lived long enough to see how greed corrupts people. When so much potential profit is out there in the unregulated world of crypto-currencies you should take care to be borderline paranoid about operational security.

I'd have no issues showing people around a data center. It has security, insurance, etc.

As for my residence, this is also insured and secured with cameras. If my garage door opens between 9AM-4PM without me first disarming it (from any entrance/window) the police are there from 1/2 a mile away in less than three minutes.
