Yeah - not quite sure why it's not holding any value when it seems to be the first coin in awhile to genuinely be somewhat different and the devs seem to have some decent features in the works. I don't have enough of them for it to be worthwhile dumping so I'll just hold on to them.

Not really sure what to mine next.

I'm mining on Middlecoin and such, and using the BTC to buy Doge.. I get more Doge faster that way than actual mining Doge.

I do it because I feel Doge is here to stay long term and its value is going to go up over a long period rather than down.

Also mining Panda on the side, when its listed on Crapsy there's gonna be a price spike, followed by the usual dumping.

Looks like Darkcoin is making some waves. But reading through the official Bitcoin Talk thread gives me a headache. Seems like they made that coin "overly complicated". Anyone doing anything with it?

I'm mining it... almost bought some at 0.001 earlier today, would've doubled my money.

Maybe it will hit a $10 million market cap peak like VTC did could see another doubling from here.

Minig Darkcoin can be a pain. Just started mining it a few hours ago. The miner is very new and buggy.

I get about 2 Mh/s per card. 5 290 and 1 7970 flashed to 280x

I'm getting around 3.8 MH/s on a pair of 7970s for Darkcoin mining.

I didn't find it that hard to setup, the example config worked for me. My cards run a LOT cooler mining it, only hit 60 C compared to 80 C with scrypt.

Screw it I am back to mining MAX. It's just too damn profitable. I might sell it and buy Dark.

It is also easy on the cards compared to Scrypt but not as easy as Darkcoin

I am also going to have r9 270x gpu soon. what coin I shall mine and where?

I've been on MAX for over a week now throwing 10Gh/s at it. I am basically doubling what I would be doing mining Doge and also beating the top coin on Coinwarz on a daily basis.

I'll just keep mining the piss out of it until it's not worth it any longer. Might figure out if I can implement a P2pool for it. Looks to be a need of it.

Awesome. HardForums has made an official Mining & Crypto subforum. No more living in a single thread.

If you need me, I'll be spending most of my time there.

So here's a crazy thought.

I wonder if it's possible to configure a rig so it's like an appliance...the goal is basically to have it be a space heater during winter...which also churns out bitcoins occasionally.

PANDA is at 65 satoshi... Lost 20 satoshi... FML

And this is why, despite getting the itch occasionally, I no longer speculate on the markets unless it's a sure thing.

"Told ya so."

Hold it. When it hits Crytsy, price will rise

The "It's rise when it hits Cryptsy" thing basically is garbage now. There's so many exchanges out there at this point that hitting Cryptsy is meaningless for a coin. It MIGHT get a small bump, but as the last several coins that hit Cryptsy found out, all hitting Cryptsy does is mean it makes the dumpers come and drive the coin prices down further.

Have fun with your scamcoin.

The closest thing to that would be the reference (blower) versions of the high end GPUs. 7950s/7970s/280x/290/290x. They would all serve as very good space heaters.

If I plan to get more serious about mining, it sounds like the USB ASICs are the way to go rather than investing in AMD GPUs solely for mining. Is that right? Are the ASICs flexible in terms of being able to update them to work with future currencies or do they only work with a fixed set of existing currencies?

Scrypt mining is still relatively new and extremely profitable, unlike Bitcoin mining which is only profitable for powerful and efficient ASIC miners. Scrypt ASICs are coming very shortly, although they will not offer a significant advantages like Bitcoin (SHA 256) ASICs currently offer in comparison to GPUs. However, they will have a much higher hashrate potential as well as much lower power consumption.

ASICs are not nearly as flexible as GPUs. A scrypt ASIC can only mine scrypt based coins, a SHA 256 ASIC can only mine Bitcoins and other SHA 256 based currencies.

Sorry I couldn't be of much help for your previous questions.

Sweet!

I'll probably head over there to pad my post count so I can finally post in the FS/FT section -_-

Where are you folks finding your gpu's these days. I'd like to buy something around the area of a 7970 or r9 280x but the prices have just skyrocketed and I'm unable to find a reasonable supplier!

Unreasonable?
700$ for a GPU that will earn you 5,000$/year is perfectly reasonable.
Which is exactly why you can't find them cheap anywhere.

My water cooled 290CF machine dumps a ton of heat out of the top of my case. It absolutely is a space heater, and if it was inside the house it'd be fairly uncomfortable.

Thanks for the explaination. I've just gotten set up and joined a pool. If I stick with it, I may just pick up a mid-range AMD card to throw in a spare PC. I'll see how things go before I invest in dedicated mining hardware.

Yes yes yes, I will enjoy my scamcoins.

I'm sure everyone here understands that you hate Wolong (or the idea of him) and Pandacoins.
