The game is out today, and I'd love to hear some thoughts from people playing the full retail PC version. I'm at work right now, but it'd be awesome if I could get a no B.S. assessment of the game before I leave work today, as I may pick up the game for later this evening!

Yea, released today. Hitting up BestBuy tonight after work to pick it up. Reviews are coming across very positive.

I loved the campaign in Crysis and Crysis Warhead. Just fun open gameplay that felt right. And then the Crysis 2 MP demo was fairly decent. I didn't plan on buying it because I don't really have the money, but I just did my tax return and I'm getting back way more than I thought.

So I may use a little of that for some Crysis 2! Maybe read a few reviews then decide. I guess I may as well get the Steam version if I do buy it.

My machine isn't much these days (AMD X2 ~5400+, 2GB ram, 4870 512mb, XP) but it runs Crysis at 1680x1050 mid details and the Crysis 2 demo ran the same way so that's fine with me.

Anyone who gets it today please let us know how it is. I never read much about what people thought of the leaked beta, and I think the general reaction to the MP demo was negative (typical "OMG port pfft console garbage" stupidity) but I think it was just fine. Mostly I'm interested in the campaign. The gameplay videos I seen last year made it seem pretty generic alien shooter and not the open play against the humans and later aliens like Crysis. Also wondering if the anticheat system for MP will be effective. It sounded like they weren't use PB or VAC and doing something internal.

What is NOT good is that there are no professional reviews out yet, which in past history has sometimes meant that the publisher has paid big bucks to keep the reviews slightly delayed in order to sell more copies on launch day when they know the reviews aren't going to live up to the hype.

That's not how it works. If all they want is to delay reviews, they can simply choose to not send out review copies in advance.

The underhanded stuff comes into play when they want to try to manipulate the content of the reviews.

Yeah, limited version is sortof meh. I get suckered by a "collector's ed" here and there, but I'll just wait for the price to come down a bit here. I enjoyed the 1st Crysis, so I'm thinking I'll enjoy this one too. Hope it's good!

Just a heads up. I found a number of things I did not like about the demo. Most of those things either do not exist on consoles at all, would likely not be noticed by a console player, are multiplayer specific, or would likely not be noticed in single player.

None of those reviews were done on PC and many did not comment on multiplayer, so they would not show these problems.

Wow, I can't believe how overwhelming positive the reviews are.

Really thinking about buying it. Probably could get it quicker by going to the store for retail copy but I do like autoupdating by Steam. Also are those pre-purchase extras only on the Steam version? Seems weird pre-purchase is available until March 26th when the game is released today. Is it actually unlocked on Steam right now?

The IGN review of x360 is very positive though, so I don't expect it to change much.

And I don't know this hasn't gained much traction, but the DX11 issue is clearly due to the massive investment nVidia made into Crytek towards the end of the development. I read in an interview that they basically had to rewrite much of the dx11 code they had in place so that it would work better with nvidia's nextgen cards.

So from IGN has said, no DX11 confirmed though it still looks "good" and that multiplayer is only 16 players, even on PC, so that's just shitty.

Guys, it is an EA game, wait a month and you'll be able to pick it up $20 cheaper. EA's last few releases they have done this with, month later game takes a big drop.

Obviously no guarantee but the chances are good I'd say. Plus, don't support $60 PC price tags, we don't need the console tax for ports.

Well I don't care about DX11 right now as I don't have the capabilities. Is it even supposed to be much better? There was all this talk about DX10 but if I remember, the DX9 Crysis was able to look very similar to DX10. And anyway, DX11 support is coming and in the meantime there is excellent looking DX9.

The player count I wouldn't mind a little higher, but I think it's okay. The MP demo was only 12 players and it felt fine. There was all this complaining about player counts in MW2 but I generally found 6 vs 6 to be great.

It's not a simple matter of adjusting a 360 review for minor differences to arrive at PC review score, since this is an action game and the problems are at the very core of the game controls, engine and visuals. It could be done between the 360 and the PS3, but not between PC and console. Not if the reviewer is anywhere near competent.

No DX11, no buy. Goes to show this was not made for PCs.

That's foolish. CE3 fully supports DX11, however, Crytek has a partnership with nVidia that has caused them to have to backtrack on how DX11 is implemented in Crysis 2. You can thank nVidia for throwing enough cash at Crytek to make them rewrite their dx11 implementation.

Show me 1 DX11 game that looks a lot better compared to when it defaults to running in DX9 or DX10 codepath? BF:BC2? No. Dirt 2? No. I can't think of any. It's almost a given that in DX11 there will be some 64 billion tessellation depth courtesy of NV, and with it probably a 30%-50%+ performance hit over DX9. If anything, DX11 has been the biggest disappointment of all outside of Civ5 and BattleForge which actually run faster in DX11 mode. I would much rather Crytek bring out a Very High texture resolution pack over DX11 anyday.

These reviews make me wonder if any of the reviewers actually played the game, and how much they were paid to double the actual scores. This game is extremely disappointing compared to Crysis and Crysis Wars.

I pre-ordered this game last year and will be returning my copy tomorrow.

Played the demo and thought it sucked. Maybe might pick this up in a year or so when it drops in price on a Steam deal.

Since when can you return opened software? Especially PC software?

Well... Then they made their money and I'll live without.
