can you set what resolution & graphic details you want like crysis 1? It still must look sexy maxed out?

At first, I couldn't tell much difference from High to Extreme. THere are three settings, high (1), very high (2), and extreme (3). At quick glance, only huge difference was lighting and a dramatic drop in framerate.

However, with the custom config editor, I've been able to setting everything to Extreme, yet reduce motion blur, bloom lighting, and AA to 2x, all while increasing my FOV to 70. The Extreme setting, minus the overdone AA, bloom, motion blur, and post processing that comes with the default Extreme setting looks wonderful and runs significantly better.

I bit. I was going to wait till this game was $10 or came free with a video card I want to buy, but I got it. WOW. This game is simply awesome. Runs great @ 1920x1200 on hardcore gfx on my sli'd and OC'd 460s.

I'm still trying to figure out why all the other human soldiers want me dead instead of us fighting the aliens together, but I'm sure that will be explained soon.

The answer to this question is given to you in the first playable level, but if you speed through you will totally miss it. I made a comment about this particular part of the game in an earlier post on this page about how if you actually stop and listen to the CELL soldiers they give up really important bits of the story.

I really want to let everyone know what the cell soldiers say in the beginning of the game so we can discuss the implications for the series. It really is the one part of the story that ties a lot of the stuff together, and the player can kill the 2 guys that give up the info before they ever say it.

In the first level after you gain the cloak ability there is a group of soldiers talking in the next area. They are discussing why Lockhart has such a grudge against prophet. It turns out Lockharts nephew was in the nanosuit program and something happened to him. From this information they let drop I can only assume that Lockhart is Nomad's uncle, and he wants Prophet dead and the nanosuit destroyed for whatever happened to his nephew between the 2 games. I personally thought this was the absolute best part of the story and it is ridiculously easy to miss, and causes the rest of the plot to seem nonsensical. Anyways, now that you know this does the story make a lot more sense?

Calling me a troll is utterly ridiculous. Did you even read what I posted? I bought the game because I thought people were whining and bitching over nothing. I figured it couldn't possibly be that bad and they were exaggerating. Buying and playing the game proved me wrong. Sorry, but this game is pure trash. Disagree all you want, it doesn't make me a troll. Visuals and DirectX support have absolutely nothing to do with it, the game is garbage from a gameplay standpoint and a storyline standpoint. It is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with modern mainstream gaming. I thought Crysis 1 and Warhead were quite good(not great or legendary or the like, but good) games by the way.

I agree with you, and if that makes me a troll, so be it. Crysis 2 just feels too much like Half Life 2 in the atmosphere and narative, which in my opinion is one of the most boring games I've ever played. WTF, I spent the first hour of HL2 just walking around a train depot being prodded by combine guards, how boring is that. Even when the game gets more exciting, it's still garbage. I agree, Half Life 2 = crap.

When was the first time you played HL2?

One thing that's getting to be really frustrating is how broken some of the servers are. A lot seem to be "stuck" and refuse to start the game regardless of how many people are in the server. I've been in servers where a full group has waited for several minutes without anything happening. I've also been on servers that have no problem going to the next game regardless of having the right amount of people. I'm not sure what's the issue but there seems to be some pretty bad server side problems.

Once you're in though I find it pretty fun. The attachments for each weapon are locked to the use of that weapon, so regardless of what level you are when you unlock a gun you still can't unlock any new scopes until you start using that gun. At least that's how it seems to work. It helps a bit so the higher level people can't just unlock stuff for all guns on level alone, they have to actually use each gun enough to get a scope for it. I can't remember if this is how any of the CoDs did it, but I know it's not not Black Ops does it.

Your stealth, armor, and power level is tied to your perk/power unlocks. Certain ones are also dictated by overall level, and will remained locked until a certain level (as will some weapons) but you have to also have an unlock available in that category to fully unlock+equip it. It's a decent setup.

I believe the servers that won't start are the ranked servers, which has been noted that it is currently broken. Pretty annoying I agree, but I've been playing mostly single player.

:hmm: Well it's definitely not ALL ranked servers because I still find ones that work okay. It might be that the ones I'm playing on are set to "fast rounds" or something which I remember seeing. Not sure what the problem is but I know at least some ranked ones are working somehow.

I've been bouncing between the SP and MP pretty evenly which is surprising because I thought I'd by very focused on the SP. Both are quite entertaining though.

Played at a friends house, I think the best part's how you have this super uber high tech suit. You can turn invisible and almost become bulletproof. But, you can only sprint for 3 fucking seconds in it.

It's because it's heavy as fuck? There's a cut scene when alcatraz tries walking in the suit when it's been powered down and he can barely hold himself up.

Can you imagine all the noobs sprinting to the end of each checkpoint ? Therefor avoiding all combat.

I have been trying that method in my second play through and it doesn't always work well .

There's also an upgrade for the suit to decrease usage of your energy when sprinting and power jumping. But for scrubs such as yourself, there's also a cheatcode for unlimited energy.

There's something called balance by design, it's a part of game development 101.

It was an issue in the demo as well.....1000s of people never ended up playing.

YET, many went ahead and bought it

Way to support CRAP

Despite the server issues I'm still having fun. The game is mainly SP focused with a decent MP attached. It's definitely not why I bought it.

Has anyone noticed "mini-studdering" when moving or shooting?

I've got a E8400 @ 3.9Ghz with a single 4890 and 4GB of DDR2. Even after tweaking and using the advanced configuration editor, I still get some studdering/lag when moving or shooting. It doesn't really feel like input/mouse lag, but I'm not sure.

It even happens at low resolutions (like 1280x720) where I get a consistent 60 FPS according to Fraps.

Any ideas?

Just for lulz, try turning down your sound quality in the game if it's possible.

It's because it's heavy as fuck? There's a cut scene when alcatraz tries walking in the suit when it's been powered down and he can barely hold himself up.

Not to mention the fact that at one point in the game they tell you that like every bone in Alcatraz's body is broken, and he's bleeding internally from several locations. It's the little nuances like this to the story that make it so great, but everyone is rushing through the game and saying,"I beat it in 5 hours, and the story made no sense."

If you slow down lots of information is given to you that you would totally miss rushing through.

I can't believe no one has commented on the spoiler I posted earlier on the page. I would think that Crysis fans everywhere would be commenting on this tie in to the first game if they had caught it on their playthrough.

If by this thread you mean the one where people that haven't played the game are saying it's bad, and everyone that has played it loves it then yeah I can understand why this thread would make you not buy it......

i didnt like the previous 2 releases either for several reasons. so it didn't take much to persuade me away from this one either. i'm more interested in Witcher 2 and Shift 2 atm anyway and anticipating TES 5, hopefully they wont delay. But none of the crysis 2 pics or vids up to this point got me hyped so i kinda figured i wouldnt like it
