When was the first time you played HL2?
doesnt matter does it? i played it for the 1st time properly 2 months or so ago and thought it was a good game
When was the first time you played HL2?
If by this thread you mean the one where people that haven't played the game are saying it's bad, and everyone that has played it loves it then yeah I can understand why this thread would make you not buy it......
I think the game does have a tiny tiny HL2 feel to it, but I personally think that's a good thingI agree with you, and if that makes me a troll, so be it. Crysis 2 just feels too much like Half Life 2 in the atmosphere and narative, which in my opinion is one of the most boring games I've ever played. WTF, I spent the first hour of HL2 just walking around a train depot being prodded by combine guards, how boring is that. Even when the game gets more exciting, it's still garbage. I agree, Half Life 2 = crap.

Just curious if anyone else ran into issues with the nano catalyst?
The first issue was that I quit the game after a check point, and when I went back in I had significantly less nano catalyst point/units than I previously had (I was saving them up for one of the big unlocks). I lost like 4000 points which is a lot before you get the opportunity fight a lot of the 300 and 500pt Ceph. ...especially after squashing all those annoying bugs just to get 20 measly points.
The second issue was that towards the end I was no longer accumulating anymore nano catalyst points. I would "loot" the Ceph corpses and it would indicate I had collected the nano catalyst, but when I'd go into the upgrades menu it would say I had 0 points. There was no benefit to killing the Ceph at that point (other than possibly dying or wasting ammo), so I just stealthed the last few missions.
I thought the addition of the nano catalyst was a good idea because it gave you an incentive to engage the Ceph when otherwise you might avoid them, but it has to work right or it's annoying.
The AI sucks balls, was just watching my friend play it today, he was inviable and as guards were walking by he'd kick a car that was right next to them. He did it so the cars never hit them, but I watched him do this to 5 different guards and not a single one reacted at all. They just kept walking normally, while all this noise from a big ass car being shoved 4 feet away from them. It was like he hadn't done shit. Not sure which difficult he's playing on, but even on easy this shouldn't be acceptable AI.

Yeah I agree.Calling shens. Power kicking a car depletes ALL of your energy, so he wouldn't have been cloaked anymore. If he remained undetected then the enemies obviously weren't very close to him or the cars.
For someone who clearly hates the game you sure watch your "friend" play it a lot.
Yeah I agree.
Not to say I haven't found some instances where the AI is pretty dumb, but I can't see this happening.
I have noticed enemy vehicles getting stuck, even when there's no reason why they should be. I can use the nano vision to see people inside it, but they won't even get out of the vehicle unless I shoot out the still spinning tires.
I've also noticed when I was at that one level where you are up really high and I was sniping people below, the other enemies would seem to panic and just run in a circle looking for cover.
And at the one stage where you are about to enter the alien hive, I took the flank path, which from my side I had to jump to, but had a ramp going up to it from the alien side. All of the aliens decided to just huddle underneath my position and shoot up at the floor even though we couldn't actually see each other. They just shot endlessly and none of them tried to actually come up the ramp. A well timed grenade took care of most of them though
BF3 anyone?
yup i got the clueless AI issue too. i pop shots at them 1 at a time and they still don't figure out whats going on and keep walking into some barrier.
Yeah the AI can be really smart at times. Like I'll be picking off people with a silenced pistol then I'll turn around and a guy will be walking right up to me. Scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. Also, on Post Human Warrior the armor mode is kinda useless against a crowd. On normal I could tank a crowd of aliens in armor mode, but on Post human they decimate you if you go head to head.
I was wondering why there were so few servers today. I hate it when devs silently push out patches. Can someone link me to the patch download? Don't they realize they are fragmenting the online player base with each patch like this?
I believe the game is set up to automatically patch itself.
