Been playing a few hours a multiplayer each day. Seems there is a lot of cheating still going on. Basically, I play 3-4 maps and then someone comes in with an aimbot and then server clears out. Saw one guy go 45-0 in a 50 kill team instant action match. He would literally do 4-5 hotshots in under 5 seconds across the entire map.

yeah i saw people cheating in the demo even

I buy all my pc games through Steam, I have three friends/relatives that are also pc gamers and they buy everything through Steam. I wouldn't be surprised if digital distribution accounts for 40% or more of the PC sales.
Yah that's what I was saying. Even if you say that the 130,000 PC sales are actually doubled due to digital sales, it's still a pretty weak number and the lowest of the three.

Too bad, because I think it's an awesome game.

But I really hope the part about cheaters isn't as widespread as some make it out to be. I know in MW2 I seen that a lot but personally didn't run across that many cheaters (at least not enough to ruin it). I only played a little bit of Crysis 2 MP and was getting demolished but I don't think any of it was due to cheaters, though I did do 5x better in the demo.

If there's one thing that ruins a game, it's not it's graphics, it's "draconian DRM", whether it's a port, whether it has a console or mod tools, it's fucking cheaters.

Hah okay! Yeah that's true sometimes it's nice to do something different. Like I was using the silenced Nova 12 on some CELL guys in like a parking garage but found and L-TAG and decided to have a little fun with that.

I do hope there's more CELL fighting. I thought Hargreave sent the CELL after you/Prophet, but I guess Hargreave now went against the rest of them? The Ceph though is kind of more like a human the way they fight than the aliens from Crysis. I do hope its not all aliens as it didn't seem like the start against the Cell was long enough.

Hargrave wants the Nanosuit back. If you listen to some of the guards in the earlier stages of the game, they're pretty much going rogue under Lockhart because he's got a vendetta out for Prophet. Hargrave repeatedly tells Lockhart he wants Prophet alive; the dude just ain't listening.

Regarding weapons, the K-Volt thing is KILLER against the Ceph later in the game, but it's pretty useless against humans. I usually keep the SCARAB on single-shot with a silencer and make it my designated stealthy headshot weapon against CELL mercs, then use the Marshall (shotgun) against the Ceph since they like to get in your face. The LMGs aren't really useful early on, but they also kick major ass against some of the heavier Ceph units later in the game.

Personally, I love the new Ceph designs. The floaty ghost like Ceph in the first games were just boring bullet sponges, but the Ceph grunts in this one are freakin' awesome looking. Plus I love how they leap around, can knock over cars like you, and generally put up a more interesting fight than the CELL guys.

I've played it a bit so far. I think I'm near the end, not really sure though. So far I like it. The graphics look great imo, I haven't noticed low quality textures or anything like that. I like how well it runs though, I think I have it on the highest setting (hardcore or something?) and it's running great, with some frame rate dips every now and then though. This is with only a Q6600 and GTX460. I haven't actually checked the fps but I haven't really felt the need to.

Some of the other complaints that I'm reading about I haven't noticed either, like how all the cars are the same. It's just not something I'm looking at when I'm immersed in a game.

There was one thing that I saw that I didn't really like though. I'm sure if you've played the game you know what mission I'm talking about, it was the one where you go on the island and you're expected to play the first bit of it stealthily. Well when I got further into the island, I guess they no longer wanted me to be stealthy because the enemies knew where I was all the time, even when cloaked. They couldn't "see" me and they weren't attacking me, but everywhere I went I was followed by a group of enemies. I guess they felt that the stealth part of the mission was over, and were trying to get me to play the mission the way they wanted.

Crysis 1's boss battle on the aircraft carrier was a lot more memorable than the last level of crysis 2 I will admit though.

that was one of the least favorite / most painful / "is it really necessary?" end-game battle ever.

but ya, when I reached the end I am glad the game is over, cuz it was getting too long.

I was running AMD X2 550 and a Geforce 9600GT that was marginal 5 years ago in Crysis 1. But with C2, I get to run 1280 and Very High details.

blah, complaining about the cars is like saying the sky is always blue. ;p

ya, i completely agree. After dropping two CELL dudes I gave up and went rambo.
I guess if you want Stealth leave it to Metal Gear Solid.

Well, I just beat it! Pretty awesome game. If the multiplayer ends up being as enjoyable as the demo (meaning I don't suck horribly and there isn't many cheaters) then it's definitely worth the $60 I paid.

My Steam times puts me at 17.7 hours into Crysis 2. Probably 30-60 minutes is in multiplayer, 1-2 hours is where I had just left the game open but stepped away, or in menus. So campaign time for me on normal was about 15 hours. Yeah I went pretty slow. Also I would always see guns on my visor and go check them out cause even though I didn't need ammo, I wanted to see if it had any new attachment on it. I always killed all the enemies and got the nano catalyst. And I used a lot of stealth to try and be quiet.

But even if I went through faster, it still would be like a 10-12 hour campaign which is excellent. It's not too long and it doesn't drag anywhere so it's not like they put in a bunch of crap just to make it longer.

In spite of how slow I went, I still only got like 30% of the hidden stuff. I found most of the email conversations but the rest of the stuff not much.

Is anyone elses menus still showing a gold star (meaning you unlocked something not yet viewed) on a bunch of unlocks/collectibles that they already viewed 10 times?

Ah you must have stayed stealth longer than me. I guess I was discovered earlier.

That's one thing I never did well in Crysis 2 that I did excellent in Crysis/Warhead. No matter what I did, as soon as I killed a guy someone else would come and check. I mean you can stay cloaked to not actually be seen but I was rarely if ever truly quiet when taking down a base or whatever.

I do have to say though, that guy that said the Nova 12 is awesome when cloaked is right. It takes much less energy per shot so you can run around with the silencer dropping CELL with headshots.

I actually stayed "unseen" until I
killed Lockhart. Well, except for the parts where you have no choice like when they lock you in the garage and just after you turn off the power.

It's really easy to abuse the stealth in this game. I don't remember it being any where near this easy in the first game. I think I stayed cloaked for most of the game, basically taking guys out one at a time without being seen. It's especially easy once you get the stealth upgrade and it lasts a really long time.

Wow you stayed unseen for VERY long then! I tried to as I was talking down all those guys protecting him. But yeah the stealth enhance upgrade significantly helps since it helps you stay stealth for so much longer.

Since I was having so much fun with Crysis 2, I pulled out Crysis and installed it. Well one I'm so used to the controls and style of the new nanosuit it's a little tough, but the stealth in Crysis 1 lasts far less long. Even without Stealth Enhance, in Crysis 1 you don't get much time/movement before your energy is depleted.

what i don't get is what happened to the aliens using ice? as if they survive in a frozen climate. their octopus vehicles are gone and now all of a sudden there is this spore virus apparantely doing all the real killing for them so no need for them to fight...guess i'm just not following the story close enough but plot wise it seems like a completely different game. albeit more fun and runs fantastic.

I'm really loving this game so far. The gameplay is a helluva lot more exciting than Crysis, and while it may not look as good (in terms of texture detail mostly) nor have the same amount of freedom, it still looks great, but more importantly, it's super smooth even at 2560x1600 on extreme settings.

I'll take that any day over having to wait 3 years to play Crysis at 2560x1600 max settings at comfortable frames..

And hopefully they'll release a texture pack a long with the DX11 patch, so the game could eventually surpass Crysis in terms of aesthetic quality.

well i bit and picked up crysis2 for $42 from D2D. so far i'm really enjoying it - the music is excellent and the game is paced reasonably well. playing on the hardest skill level makes things a little more interesting, and there always seems to be a few straggling units that will pop you in the back.

i'm not very far in, but my few gripes so far are that there's little connection to crysis1 as of yet, and alcatraz hasn't opened his damn trap.

Good game - the only gripe I have is that it wasn't one "continuous" level as Crysis.

Not interested in online play but i've played through the Campaign three times so far and still not bored of it. The 1.4 patch has just been released which brings a lot of improvements to the multiplayer, albeit too late to save it from the declining number of players.

What i'd like to know is, what is 'Optimized SSAO'? I have a feeling it means 'wasn't working at all before and now we've fixed it'!

Good. Hoping the MP really IS fixed as aside from the bugs I found it pretty fun.

To my understanding, Alcatraz is pretty beat up and probably can't talk.
