Also, there is a significant performance jump from the 460 to the 560. Perhaps, those slight architectural improvements in the GTX5xx line are coming into play. Too bad they didnt' specify if this was the 768mb or the 1GB version of the 460 being tested.

There's nothing significantly unusual about the performance difference between the 560 and 460.

Oh yea, because you do that so well on other threads

Whatever, going to bed.

See if you pull out the guts to actually run 3Dmark11 then, gnite.

Oh yea, P.s. quick question...

How come you are always talking about GPU this, AMD that, nVidia this, yet I don't recall seeing you once posting in the PC gaming forum...Kind of ironic
are you feeling okay? his cpu is fine for an overclocked gtx460 especially in Crysis 2. now in Starcraft 2, GTA 4 and and a couple of other games it would help a bit but again in Crysis 2 he is fine.

Isn't this just a dx9 port? I am sure every card will play nice, but seems yesterday to use these benches in making a buying choice.

So it's wrong to count rebates in pricing, but totally cool to use the price some random dude on Anandtech is charging for used stuff. Give me a break.
That guy send brand new in box items with seals on them, I got my 6850 from him and I registered it with XFX and everything.

An excellent way for a Joe Green to get an overview of what to expect (or what to buy) from his newest GeForce card in an upcoming AAA title. Very nice, clear and informative. Props from me I wonder if all the John Reds could be treated similarly by their supreme overlords Though I guess that's DX9 - still numbers are a lot better than Crysis 1 / Warhead.

And I hope one day you can remember the resolutions properly happy

Im I the only one having a problem with comparing benchmarks from an unreleased game thats still in beta?

This is like the Dragon Age demo bench [H] did to preview the 6990.

Well ya, value wise, the 460 is better. The cheapest on Newegg is about $150 and 560 is about $230. So 50% more cost for 30% more performance. Then again, an HD6950 is almost 2x as fast as a GTX460 for $250. So from a value perspective, the 560 is not great for this game.

Still, a 560 can also overclock to 1000mhz!

Finally some sense in this thread, paying 50% more for 30% more performance doesn't make sense. I rate the GTX 460 1GB highly as a gaming video card.

So, once objective diminishing returns kick in it makes no sense for anyone to buy a card where paying for more, gets you more, but not in a 1:1 ratio? Are you the kind of person who'd lecture someone for going to a steakhouse, as opposed to buying value-select meat from the local supermarket chain? It's not really apples to apples...

That isn't to say that 'bang for the buck' can make sense in confined thresholds (a 460 1 GB for 200 versus a 460 1GB for 150 that is exactly the same..), but what you're saying is that nobody should have a reason to buy a 580 because the performance doesn't scale linearly with the price. To me, that's too broad a claim (and doesn't make sense).

I guess you are right. I just didn't realize how much slower a stock 460 is.

We're all used to these overclocked 460s. The stock 460 is a fine chip, but at stock there was definitely a sizable gap between it and the 470 and now a bigger gap between it and the 560.

I had my 460 1gb cyclone at 820 and it was parable to the 470 at stock. And I hear the 560 at 1000 is parable to the 570 at stock.
