Crysis 2 Demo is out!

I only played 1 match on each map, but I thought the demo was decent enough (though the graphics options aren't really customizable, and the 3D options are disabled which I wanted to try). Got a new video card around Christmas, so it's plenty smooth at 1920x1080.

I don't think I'll buy day one though (also didn't preorder). I'll wait for reviews and hope for a deal of a couple dollars off (not a fan of $59 for a PC game).

That things just plays way too smooth for my rig. We are talking 40+ fps.

Okay, I take it back. The demo looks like every other port I've played, and if it's true that the full game is shipping with support for DX9 only, I won't be buying the game.

Sigh... Was kind of looking forward to this...

I played on GAMER and HARDCORE and I'm getting 70 to 80+ FPS easily ... I keep getting owned by noobs with AIM ASSISTANCE... you can definately tell when you see the kill shot replays! :'(

Yet, even in CoD, with 99.99% of the people using it, 80% don't manage to keep a KDR over 1.0.

I guess it's supposed to make the game easier to play for noobs, lol.

No wonder counter strike is always near the top of the steam list. I have K ratio of like 0.5, but I still have loads of fun.

K/D ration is irrelevant to me.

What's relevant is objectives and team work/strategy to win the round. Which has no place in Run/Gun type of a game.

That's the reason I actually played MW2, domination....I never played any other game modes. Even domination though was limited on Strategy/teamwork due to small map design and random points.

That's where COD:United offensive shined imo. Great Map layout and some strategy to Point capture etc (in Domination). 5 spots vs 3.

Anybody still having trouble logging in? What kind of account do you need to log in? I have a gamespy account but that does not work.

I have been trying to create a MyCrysis account with no luck. When I try to create a new account through MyCrysis.com, it says account is being created and doesn't do anything.

I tried creating a new account through the game and it says my email address is already in use.

Its so random.

It wouldn't recognize GAZZILION Gamespy/EA accounts I have...but when I created a new one, it didn't even take me to a Webpage. Just used my New User/email/password and logged me right in.

I can't even login to test this. I created a mycrysis account and I can log into the website fine. In the game it spins for a second and spits me back to the login menu. Pretty frustrating to be honest.

You have to let it go for a while. It finally went for me after I left it spinning for 20min.

Doesn't even do that though. I click login, 2 seconds (literally) later I am back to login without any interaction on my part. :\

Just went in to show my other son the demo......no servers start up. You just sit there wondering when it will start...and it never does.

Maybe this is EAs new idea of Twitter or Facebook......cause people are doing nothing but chatting.

Also noticed a new Xbox crap. If you go into a server and its full (which happens A LOT, since filters don't work and even if it says 8/12 etc).....when it comes up with "Server Full" , when you click on OK for a second you see all the Xbox bottons display on the bottm.

I tried taking a screen shot to post on Failblog...but it's too quick. Can someone try to catch it?

So, I just got back from playing a couple of rounds for my first time. My analysis:

Basically Call of Duty, but with a nanosuit. Lame.

The graphics are nothing to write home about. Crysis 1 is MUCH more demanding than this console-ized mediocre sequel. Anyone who thought Crysis 2 was going to be the next major GPU-killer is going to be severely disappointed.

The graphics have kind of a blurry, "out of focus" feel to them, and the FOV is suffocating. There is console written all over this game. Edit: To clarify, I set the demo to run at 1680x1050, my native resolution. It's a pretty game, but it just feels too "soft". Like the textures are dumbed down and muddied to work on consoles, and then they overcompensated with lighting and bloom. Edit #2: Turning off motion blur probably helps this (I haven't tried it yet though).

Offered in the graphic menu tab are options for resolution, fullscreen, v-sync and system spec. The system spec option can be toggled between gamer, advanced and hardcore settings. So the question is, will these more limited options be present in the final version of the game?

"We'll look at whether that's a possibility," said Nathan Camarillo, executive producer at Crytek. Right now Crytek is monitoring fan feedback and will determine later what might be able to change. "When we did the 360 demo, as an example, we looked at all the top line issues that everybody reported. We addressed a very high percentage of those. We will use this opportunity in the same way."

Regarding DirectX 11 support, which would allow for more advanced graphical effects, Camarillo said, "Crysis 2 will support DirectX 11 but we'll talk more about that in the future. There's an announcement coming soon about that."

Sounds to me like they are going to announce it's not coming at release. D:

What the hell else is there to announce??? The game comes out in less than 3 weeks.

So... let me get this straight. They're actually considering supporting DirectX 11, but not until well AFTER Crysis 2 is released? If that's true, this is ridiculous. It takes the whole "releasing an unfinished game and finishing it later" thing way too far. What happened to the days when a video game could be released and polished on day 1? Crazy.

I think BC2 sucks as well. It gets boring quickly.

I can't log into the crysis servers either. Even when the player count is below the server max I get a server full message.
