I started downloading this thinking it would be like the original Crysis demo and be singleplayer. After reading the posts here, it seems to be MP only. I don't see anyone confirming that entirely, but since no-one talks about any SP part of the game, I think that it is a safe assumption that it is MP only.

I don't really want to play against other people, I just want to check the game out and see how it looks.

Well it looks like EA took a massive dump all over Crysis 2. No doubt it will sell well on the 360, but terribly on the PC, and then EA/Crytek will moan about those dirty pirates stealing sales. No idiots, maybe if you made a proper game perhaps it would sell.

Don't be an ass. If you don't like the game then don't buy it or download it. When devs see meager sales and downloads it tells them they're doing something wrong, whereas with meager sales and lots of downloads they think they just need more invasive DRM.

Wow, this demo was just awful, I can't believe this is the long awaited Crysis 2. I canceled my pre-order this morning. If I wanted to play call of duty I would have bought call of duty. Shame on Crytek for releasing this garbage.

i buy 98% of all games i have. i wont buy something just for the story ( which is why i might end up playing the game for)

Please, spare us your bad car analogy. No one gives a shit if you bought over 9000 games legitimately. Is that supposed to somehow justify piracy? Don't do it. If a game sucks (and Crysis 2 will suck by all acounts), then just forget about it. What makes you think you deserve getting the game for free?

I hate piracy as much as the next, but if the game is really launching with support for DX9 only... I don't have a whole lot of sympathy anymore. The demo is insulting, and outside of lip service I haven't seen anything from Crytek that would make me expect anything better out of the full game at this point. I'd love to be proven wrong...

I don't have any sympathy for them either, which is why I won't be buying or downloading the game. Do you think by pirating it Crytek is going to think, "Oh jeez, look at all those downloads, the PC gamers must not like our game?" :hmm:

Every download just tells them that's another person that liked the game enough to try and get it, which makes them think it's no big deal that they've cut so many features/effects/etc. as people are still playing it. Vote with your wallet and bandwidth, by neither buying or downloading you're telling the devs that the problem is the game itself, not price or something else.

Besides the hiccups from mass amounts of people trying to login at once and swamping the servers, what exactly is bad about the game other than it not looking any better than the first?

I played it quite a bit yesterday and had a lot of fun.

And the single player campaign is epic. HL2 epic.

Singleplayer was made by Crytek. Basically two completely different studios.

I've been playing in on hardcore at 1900x1080 and it looks great to me. I think the terrain/atmosphere of Crysis 1 (jungle+beach) was easier to look at for sure, and I think a lot of people are confusing graphics with environment.

Considering that my rig handles crysis 1 with HDR mods maxxed out with zero issues. I expected better from crysis 2. So yes it looks like shit (aka like i hooked a 360 to a pc monitor)

Honestly, I agree, to a point. I would have hoped Crysis 2 was as ground breaking graphically as Crysis 1 was.

But, as a business, they listened. The game runs well, and they basically toned things down a bit to make the game more accessible to the masses. They optimized it, especially the MP so that it wouldn't be sluggish.

Question is, had Crysis 1 not left the mark that it did, graphically, would you be as dissappointed? I just have a 3.6ghz amd quad core with a 4870, and I'm able to play on 1900x1080 on hardcore and get pretty damn good frame rates.

I had fun once I stopped comparing it to the original. I didn't download the leak, but a friend did, and I saw it on his rig (which is a little less than mine) and it looks beautiful and the gameplay was pretty epic. It reminded me of HL2 in a way.

Hopefully there will be servers that force it to be disabled, otherwise this game requires little skill with a mouse, get your xhair in the vicinity and you're locked on target. Pathetic, just pathetic for a game on PC.

Yeah. auto aim on pc is blasphemy. xbox kids probably can't live without it though.

It looks much worse than Crysis 1 is for sure. This is especially insulting after the many times Crytek said it would look at least as good as the first if not better with all its DX11 graphics.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 looks better than this. The worst thing is how they covered up all their laziness in the graphics department. Temporal AA instead of real MSAA. Low Res textures worthy of a 2005 game. Motion blurring to cover up the lack of detail. FOV is terrible. No config files to change graphics with because Crytek hates people who change the way their game looks so much that they encrypt the config files so they cant be changed.


What ticks me off most is all the prerelease crap Crytek lied about before release. Here we are now weeks away from release, and DX11 doesnt even ship with the game. Press Start to continue is the first thing you see. These little things all add up that demonstrate how much their PR department was telling us differently than what their development team was actually doing.

I'll be surprised if they even ship with Sandbox at this point. I'm thinking that they won't even release an editor because they hate the PC crowd that much.

Just think about this for a second. Crysis 1 shipped with a DX10 Renderer. Crysis 2 is going to ship with a DX9 renderer only.
