Since they waited a month after the release of the game to even tell us I assume that means they thought twice about even bothering. Way to really show support for the PC community. NOT!
And you wonder why developers don't support PC gamers as much as they used to? No matter what they do you complain.

The reason that Crysis 2 is a DirectX 9 game is because the majority of PC gamers are still running the best OS Microshit ever produced: Windows XP Pr 32-bit.

The game really came out a month already huh? Time sure moves fast in your universe, or are you just being a drama queen.

There is absolutely no reason DirectX11 cannot run on Windows XP. There is nothing at the OS level preventing it from being done. The only reason is because MS wants people to buy Windows 7, so they hardware locked it out of XP.
I love how DX10 pretty much collapsed totally after all the hype behind it once people realized that it was essentially a slower running DX9. DirectX 11 at least has actual new features but there is no reason those features cannot be ported to XP.
Almost 3 weeks to the day. Close enough for government work.
So you ARE being a drama queen. Close to 3 weeks =/= 1 month.
If nobody complains maybe it never happens?
The stupid thing is a video game they make for money. I'm sure if they want someone to whisper sweet nothings in their ear they'll hire hookers.
You'll have to ask Crytek that question. The difference between a slight exaggeration used for rhetorical effect and a drama queen is sometimes whether or not the sky really is falling. In this case though, it looks like they really did think twice about ever providing Dx 11 support. Therefore its completely up to you to decide whether I'm a drama queen or merely exaggerating for effect.
There are plenty of articles detailing why DX11 can't be ported to Windows XP.

Sounds like you could give John Carmack some programming classes, thank god we have code gurus like you to illustrate us how it is easy as pie to bolt some new tech to a 9 year old OS and that Microsoft should continue supporting it forever, thank you very much sir. There is absolutely no reason DirectX11 cannot run on Windows XP. No. They did it deliberately to make people buy Vista, which was getting a lot of negative buzz long before it was even released. It would have been very easy to support DX10 in Win XP.
