Far Cry was one of the longer FPSs I have played. I think it took me 25 hours or so on the veteran difficulty. Although I went through the game really thoroughly and explored everything there was to see in the levels. If Crysis is of comparable length, that's good enough for me.

The reviews on the major sites are all useless these days. I don't even bother reading them. We need to get one from Zero Punctuation though. Those are probably the best out there right now.

Anything above 95% would require the game to have weapons as accurate as CS:S and a world as open ended as Oblivion. I doubt this is so in either case. Yes even decent gaming mags can get carried away with a title.

CS:S had accurate weapons? Don't make me laugh.

Are you serious? Tell me a game that had more realistic weapons so I can buy it. Game like farcry & Halflife 2 had weapons that are fun but were really more like toys. CS:S weapons are a sweet spot in gaming.

I think, with all the mods, custom maps, MP, etc. I easily played over 100 hours on FarCry... the Matto 4 mod for FarCry is pretty damn good in most respects even by todays standards.

Crysis will probably have even more mods and whatnot than FarCry.

I heard a rumor that Crytek is working on Co-op mode for Crysis

I'd respectfully disagree... the weapon ballistics in CS:S are not that good. I played CS:S for about one week and then dropped it... weapon ballistics drove me nuts.

Amen. I played it much longer than a week - and still do, but CS:S is notorious for weapon inaccuracy. Unless, by accuracy, you mean how the weapons are rendered (3D model, sounds, etc). In that regard they are top notch, but if you want to hit water from the deck of an ocean liner after you pull the trigger...

that's a different story.

Oh and quickly get 2 more posts (By this I meant get to 1337 posts )...

Hmmm nope, see ... I thought saying Far Cry's graphics are "better" than Crysis' was a mere joke on your part. I really thought it was. But you do think it for real ? If that's the case then it sure is one thing: your opinion, but nothing else.

The actual game-play of Far Cry, I will never forget it, it was good, I liked it, and the graphics at its time back 3 years ago were of the same wow-punch, jaw-dropping eye candy you could get on a PC, it was the Crysis of 2004, but now we're in 2007, and there is Crysis to remind Far Cry how old it is. The graphics in Crysis are beyond anything released to date, and saying that Far Cry's graphics are better, in my useless opinion means only two things: 1) Nostalgia for Far Cry clouds and literally blinds your logic and visual comprehension / 2) You're desperately trying your worse to make Crysis look "bad" ...

If you CAN possibly defend your point of view I'm willing to read it and perhaps comment on it, as if it'd change your mind anyways ...

Why should I defend my POV - "its not like it'd change your mind anyways " I just stated my preference (as you said) because I actually prefer FarCry graphics. Had you just asked me "why?" - then I would have given you an honest response as to reasons why. I fully understand Im one of the very few who probably prefer X over Y in this case - but everyone else was posting their opinion so I decided to post mine - different as it may have been. I cant really defend my POV anyways because its just preference on the graphics of a game - and not my opinion on immigration laws (just an example ) Its not right or wrong in the end...

Anyways, if it helps, Ill change IMO to preference...

PS: I actually really like Crysis and never said otherwise. Im just about to play it because the other factors of the game make it really interesting to play (OFC playing with full GFX some time in a year or 2 would be nice!)

I still think Orange Box is better, HL2 episode 2 was awesome and TF2 is my favorite game of the year. Its funny that my old Radeon 9800 pro still works great with orange box.

You have to at least play at medium settings to appreciate the graphics. At the lowest setting it looks like farcry.

I agree I put a lot of hours into it and never got to finish it because I was running around the island looking at the graphics. The game play wasn't all that great though.

Well...I don't really know how to begin arguing this point.
I have fired my share of firearms in my day and very few games give me the satisfaction that resembles a real weapon like CS:S. 95% of the other shooters on the market make me feel like I am playing with toys. This was one of my few disagreements with HL2 and disappointed me in a big way with farcry. All(or most) the weapons in CS:S fire just as they should.

I don't know maybe I'm alone in this perspective but I thought CS:S broke new ground in this area.

I hope that this time Crytek comes out with an expansion pack. It was really kind of a shame with FarCry to sort of 'waste' the game engine on only one installment.

He never said CounterStrike had accurate weapons.
He just stated that as the bare minimum for a game to get a decent score. I think his point was Crysis had even less accurate weapons.

Are you kidding?? PC freakin' Gamer?

They aren't really a website, but are a magazine started in 1993. They aren't just a website that employs fanboys like IGN. They are actual journalists.

Next time you are in a magazine store, just check out PC Gamer. I am sure you've seen their issues.

Crysis is the third game in PC Gamer history to get such a high score. They are probably the most respected source in the game world.

Agreed, PC Gamer is a respectable magazine that only highly rates games that are actually good. Alpha Centauri was the first game to get a score of 98, and it was well-deserved.

Would be nice, the Ubisoft deal killed off any hopes with Far Cry. All that is coming out is the movie in 2008 and FC 2 on the way with no Jack Carver.

As long as they don't sell off Crysis to EA or someone else lol it would be interesting.

They said its not supported, but it is definately doable and said that they are very much looking forward to jets, co-op, etc made by modders.

Doom 3 was a fluke most likely based on the franchise history. Otherwise, I tend to agree with PG gamer reviews far more than say, gamespot which underrates everything that's on the PC and only seems to like console games these days.

All you people that are criticizing the game without having played it will either be pleasantly surprised by the game or will nitpick is endlessly just to prove your skepticism correct. My guess would be if you liked far cry you'll like this game. And I loved far cry.

I think you're right. Just swap mercs for North Koreans and trigens for aliens. It's probably best not to expect anything novel though.

Huh, IGN mentions that enemies only chatter in Korea in Delta difficulty. But the thing is I know Korean so I still know what they are going to do/doing.

You sure? North Koreans have a tendency to say one thing and do another
