I'm very disappointed... even considering medium settings, it seems they promised more/better. Especially after hearing about the performance on that one post with the 8800 and quad core.....

Looks like BF2 almost exactly on some of the screens.

first, the AMD2600 is a POS GPU.

second, BF2 looks nowhere near as good - look at the mountains for a prime example.

third, textures may have been limited to reduce the download size. that happened with the ETQW beta (and only for ETQW, 1 of 4 engine render thingies were enabled by default)

expect better screens from the demo. even still, it looks damn good.

Well apparently the beta is DX9 only. I wonder if running in DX10 will give better performance? Afterall wasn't Crysis designed from the getgo for DX10 and just made compatible with DX9?

Sounds a little too optimistic to me, most of the DX10 paths thus far have resulted in worse performance.

Kind of bummed that a Q6600 and GTX can't handle the truth, this doesn't bode well for the "regular joe's" among us and further stresses that whether G92 is a high end refresh or not, NVIDIA better have something in the pipe before Christmas to get acceptable performance.

Dual core. Still a strong CPU/GPU combo though so yeah...We all knew it would be a resource hog.

Dual core. Still a strong CPU/GPU combo though so yeah...We all knew it would be a resource hog.

You think a quad would really make much a diff? Both cores have never gone above 80% while playing.

Somehow this is not surprising. We've seen a lot of this from other games lately.

I'm guessing those screenshots were taken at mostly low settings given the system, as they look nearly identical to the original Far Cry.

It's good to hear that the gameplay is nice though.

Well, I'm sorry but the beer and videogames have to stay. Mainly the beer. But also the videogames.

I'm going to upgrade my subscription when I get paid on Friday, I think. I'm making about $35 more per paycheck now than I was before, due to picking up every other Sat, so I think I'll be able to swing it.

That and I somehow managed to make a tank of gas last two weeks

No point in applying your priorities to him. If thats how he wants to do it, its understandable - maybe he doesn't want to tie up his money all at once or wants to be able to call and cancel and be done any time he wants.
