Wow. I've been browsing the forums a bit and it sounds like CC is really giving people a hard time about this. They are charging people the $ 49 and then giving them the $10 GC......I really don't know how a) they can get away with it and b) why they would want to alienate their consumers. But the fact is, they really don't care. And you figure, what's the demographic that they are trying to attract into their store - middle class males ages 20 - 45 - exactly the crowd they will alienate by making people pay the extra $ 10 bucks, when it is they who created this misleading phraseology and advertised it incorrectly. Not too mention, if I'm not mistaken, it is outright illegal to advertise a price (after GC/rebate) in RI; like it's actually in the statutes out here......

I don't think they are trying to get over on or alienate customers, the cost of Crysis is roughly $43. Selling it at $39 is a $4 loss unless they got some assistance from EA which I doubt because it's not an inventory or promo markdown. The gift card makes it even worse for them. That said, I think it varies by state about whether its illegal to effectively recind that price on the spot. I think honoring that price should be more of a customer satisfaction choice.

They wanted to charge me $49.99 for it with the GC.

I told them to stuff it and I got it for $39.99 but they wouldn't give me the GC.

If anyone got both the game and the GC for $39.99 can you scan a receipt?

They had not arrived at the CC by my work but the one closer to home had the CEs behind the counter and a lot of the normal versions on the shelf. They rang the non-CE as $39 and gave me the gift card without me even asking.

I just got it for $39.99 too with the free gift card. Total was $42.31. The first register guy didn't believe me, but the head CSR person helped me out. I guess other's have come in with the same issue, cuz she said it was the third time today she'd had to do this. You have to go to the CSR desk and ask for the game. All the new releases were back there, including COD4, Assassin's Creed, Mario Galaxy; they're not on the floor. So don't pay $50 for the game and GC... don't price match for $40... go to CC and get the game and free GC for $40. Ask for a higher up to ring up the cost, or ask them to call another CC to confirm the price.

edit: i don't have a scanner to show you the receipt. The register originally rang it up at $49.99, so you need to get someone to change the price. The girl basically changed it so that the game shows up at $29.99, and the GC was charged $10. And it does make a difference how they ring it up, because below that it says.

Non-Taxable $10.00
Total Taxable $29.99
Sales Tax $2.32
TOTAL PURCHASE $42.31

My experience -

They didn't have it on the floor, I went to customer service where a clerk went to the back and found it in a sealed box. She tried to ring it up but it would come up as full price plus the ten dollar gift card. She called out the floor manager who then preceded to argue with me for at least twenty minutes that the circular meant that the game would be reduced to $39.99 plus a ten dollar gift card that had to be paid for. I must admit I got pretty heated.

I held my ground until he called out the store manager. The store manager looked at it, went to the back with the game box and the circular than came out about 5 minutes later, telling the floor manager to give it to me.
The floor manager was pissed as he rang it up for $39.99 with the free ten dollar gift card. You could see the steam coming out of his ears!

I took the gift card and went to the game section and tried to buy COD4 pc version. For whatever reason that game was not showing up correctly on their inventory listing so that took another ten to fifteen minutes to fix.
Finally walked out with COD4 for $29.99 (having used the gift card) plus Crysis for $39.99 (and the gift card used for COD4.

Last week I purchased a 47" toshiba lcd on the web site - $1680 lowest sale price with free delivery and removal of old tv and got 10% off additional using my AAA card . Had trouble with credit card going through for some reason Went to the local CC and the sales rep could not match the price on their own web site. To add more salt to the wound they would charge me $125 for delivery even though their web ad shows discounted price with free delivery. Of course he insisted I purchase the $289 extended warranty after all the hassle
Store manager was surprised at low price and would not honor it.

Tried again on the web site and credit card went through this time. Saved over $600 from regular price. Had it delivered to mom where the delivery guys told my parents that there was a $40 delivery charge to go up the 2 flights. Not only did they rip my parents off they brought the old tv down to the first floor and left it there instead of hauling it away.

I called American Express to cancel the transaction but was helped by the rep who contacted CC and got the $40 taken off my bill. ok now

One thing that will I never do is shop in CC again because of this. I spend hundreds if not thousands a year on dvds, games, computer stuff etc and because of their poor customer treatment they will never see a dime from me again.

I've mostly had good service.

When WalMart had the HDA2 HD player for $99, I had purchased it at CC for $197 and took a printed page off of walmart.com in there...no questions asked and my final price was $94.

well, who knows what the "real" price is supposed to be. i guess it all depends on which store you go to. again, the girl who helped me said i was the third person she'd helped with this pricing issue, and she changed the price without a fuss, totally cool about it. if you're in S. Cali send me a pm and i'll give you the info on where to go and who to talk to. you can call first and see if she's working.

Also got it for 39.99 with a free $10 GC. The counter monkey was taking Crysis out of the shipping boxes behind the Customer Service counter. The game rang up 49.99. I whipped out the ad and he price adjusted to 39.99 and gave me the $10 card.

I also just got home with the reg version, had the SV bought for 39.99 but would not give me the gift card and sent me to customer desk, so the manager came out and low and behold they found a reg version in the back and returned the SV and rang up the reg version for $29.99 and 10.00 for the gift card totaling $39.99 so I was happy......Here in Pa
But I do believe they do not know what they are doing or they are trying to pull something...Oh well I am happy.

Can anyone confirm that's actually the price? Just looked through the ad posted and it seems like the price is $39.99 BECAUSE OF the gc, not $39.99 AND a gc (so probably $49.99 and you get a gc, making it $39.99.)

ummm..no

its $39.99 with a free $10 gift card..the ** next to the gift card states it must be used on a different transaction..

I know what it means. What I'm saying is that the price might be $49.99 and they'll give you a GC for free, making it *like* $39.99 (I know you can't use the GC yet) rather than the price actually being $39.99 and THEN you get a GC on top of that. Guess we'll know once someone buys one.

Sorry to quote myself but THIS is why I posted this in the first place. Guess I was right about CC meaning $49.99 + $10 gc when I first saw the ad.

I went today and not only did they say no game, not even in the back but they refused to admit there was at any time a deal of $39.99 + $10 GC.

I had the flyer and the best CC would do is $49.99 and a gift card which they would not use toward the purchase. I took the flyer one block over to Best Buy and purchased the game for $39.99 but no gift card. From now on I'll just go to Best Buy for a price match.

Went to CC in Somerville, MA at lunchtime. I was expecting to have a hassle but no problems and had a pleasurable experience.

Crysis was marked on the box as $39.99. I went to the cashier expecting that she'd have an issue with the giftcard and refer me over to customer service but she knew it came with a giftcard(must have been thru this before). The game rang-up as $49.99 but she just changed the price and I was done.

I then went back and used the giftcard to get COD4 for $29.99.

I'm a happy camper!

I had the same experience last night at CC where it came up as $49.99. While they may have intended to MEAN "Your end price: $39.99 after $10 GC.", that's not what the words in the circular SAID. They manually rang it up without a fight.

CC at St Louis, MO (St Louis Mill Mall location) has plenty in supply.
I called and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that its CSR had informed me not only did it have plenty in stock but also a $10GC that comes with it.
Will pick it up on the way home tonight.

I was at Circuit City, and they honored the $39.99 price and gave me the $10 gift card...they even tried to apply the gift card to the purchase, but it didn't work...as they didn't have any Call of Duty copies at this particular store, may hit another one after work to take advantage of the $39.99 price for that game as well.

I walked in with the circular...if not, there were plenty in the store...once the manager saw the price listed as $39.99 with no caveat about the gift card, he didn't even put up a fight.

When they ring up the item, there should be an icon next to the SKU on their screen that they have to press...this brings up any promotions on that item. Once the cashier hit the promotion button, the price came up as $39.99...he then added the $10 gift card.

I stopped at the CC in East Brunswick, NJ

Picked up the reg version, cashier rang it up $49.99. Pointed it out, he corrected it, then asked about the gift card, he went to a csr, the csr said just take another $10 off the price. LOL, I went back and got the special edition so that ended up being $39.99 otd.
