The "Supervisor" tried to charge me $49 and then give me a gift card. He told me I could talk to their corporate office. I had a manager called over and handed him the ad. I asked him to tell me what the price was. He rang it up for $39 and I got the gift card. There was smoke coming out of the "supervisors" ears. The guy acted like I was taking money out of his pocket.

This is priceless, basically no way he can say no to that. Do the workers at CC get comission? that may explain why he was angry.

anyone try a bay area CC?

I snagged a copy in San Mateo. When I got to the register, the CS rep mentioned to his other workers "oh, it's another one of these". They already knew about the issue, but they were really cool and were honoring the $39.99 price + $10 GC. They didn't give me a hard time at all, and seemed more annoyed at "Corporate" for not setting up the computers correctly. The total cost for me was $42.46 (and I got the GC).

I was expecting to get into a little argument, but it couldn't have turned out better.

I picked mine up at the Concrd NC store, they had more on the shelf.

It rang up @ $49.99 I mentioned the add and they corrected the price and gave me the gift card.

Now I need to get a couple 8800GTs,

Mine rang up at $49.99 also. Had to go to the customer service desk to get it resolved. CS guy had to get manager to ok an override. He rung it up as $29 and added the $10 gift card to make the total $39 + tax.

It was funny when I asked the first check out guy why I want to pay $10 extra to get a GC. He agreed is was stupid but couldn't really explain why. I guess they should have advertised this as $49.99 and receive a $10 GC...

They had a sign printed up at all the registers at my store saying the Weekly Ad had a mistake and that Crysis for the PC was $49.99 w/ a $10 gift card. I bitched and moaned a little and they ended up taking the price down to $39. After the woman spent 20 minutes trying to figure out the gift card, I said forget it and left. Not worth the hassle since there's nothing I wanted to spend $10 on. Either way, they had signs that said the $39+GC was an error in the ad, so I guess this is YMMV.

My local CC had a sign indicating that the CE should have been $59 instead of $49 but I didn't even have to ask to get the regular version for $39 and the $10 GC.

ya... me too, I saw a make-shift sign taped next to the PC game section, saying CC apologize for the pricing mistake.

I called and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that its CSR had informed me not only did it have plenty in stock but also a $10GC that comes with it.
Will pick it up on the way home tonight.

Picked one up as advertised.
No questions, no hassles.

I got rooked over like a a cheap prom date at my CC !! First of all, two store employees checked stock after I found a bare shelf and both said they were out of stock. So I grabbed CoD4 and headed for the checkout. I passed yet another employee and asked him if they had any copies. His reply "Oh yea, we keep 'em in the back room' ... WTF!! ???!! Great place to sell your games !! Anyhoo, I got to the counter and it rang up at 49.99. I said 'Hmm, the flyer has it at 39.99'. Off to find a manager he went, then comes back telling me that I had to have signed up for this Gamer Card ad at the bottom of the page showing the PC games for sale to get the 39.99 price !!! OK, fine, ring me up at 49.99 and I'll take the $10 GC at least .. ohh noo, sir !! again, that gift card is only available for Gamer Card carrying members. So I got no damn deal at all, and it seems like everyone else did but me ... I'll try the demo which I downloaded yesterday and if I don't like it, they can have their sealed Crysis copy back ... jerks ..

Lady at the register rang it up for $49.99 and I showed her the ad. She said that we can't give it at that price. I firmly said. "This is your ad and you're not going to honor it?" She talked with a manager in the back and returned 5 minutes later to ring it up for $39.99 and the $10 gift card included.

Good luck if you try to purchase it.

They also honored the ad (Burbank, CA), but I had to talk to Customer Service first.
At first they weren't going to do it, then I told them I would just buy it at Frys if they didn't.

They did try to get over on you there. I've been to two stores, go one for me and my brother and had no issue. It rang up wrong the first time but they quickly fixes it - once I brought it to their attn of course.

Worked for me yesterday at the Union Square Circuit City in NYC. Too bad they didn't have any COD4 in stock to bring down to $30 with the GC.

I also wanted to get Call of Duty4 with my gift card, but they were out of them. I do have another suggestion though, I have heard that TimeShift is another good game and is on sale for $39 at CC.

I got shot down by the 'hats at South Overland Park, KS CC. It made me angry when the guy tried to explain how the ad was accurate and not misleading.

i got it at me circuit city in houston. it rang up for $49.99 with $10 gift card. I told her the ad said it would be $39.99. So she changed the price to $29.99 plus $10 for the gift card. She then let me purchase COD4 with the gift card.

Seems like its back up to $50

Circuit City

I'll call my local CC to check if they are still doing it - perhaps certain locations haven't figured out its a mistake yet?

On another note, Fry's Electronics has Crysis for $39.99, but without gift card offer.

Report from Emeryville, CA: Purchased online for in-store pickup. Tried to price match to in-store deal, but got stuck because their staff is incompetent.

I tried 3x to get CC's phone sales to match the price of the flyer. They were basically powerless to do anything beyond filling out a web order form for me over the phone, or were unwilling to accommodate. I called the retail store 4x to determine if it was in stock, every time, their sales rep found "no entry" for Crysis within their system, which is to say the game didn't exist. Since I wasn't goign to get a straight answer from CC, I went ahead and bought the game for in-store pickup, since a simple web query could confirm that the game was in stock.

I figured that I'd buy the game online for in-store pickup, then price match the deal to themselves afterwards via the flyer. After I arrived, and asked for the price match, I got stonewalled by a very ignorant shift leader/manager person because the transaction information showed that I paid 39.99 for the game, which is what it's supposed to cost. I kept informing them that I was also paying $10 for a gift card, which brings my total to $53.xx, but the guy came up with numerous excuses for why he wouldn't do anything for me:

1) The deal was for Wednesday. The CC flyer stated that the deal would be available from 'Wednesday' onward, which coincided with the rlease date. I had to explain to him that the flyer I had was for LAST sunday, and that I hadn't brought NEXT sunday's flyer (from the future) into the store with me.

2) The printed price is $49.99. I had to explain to him about 3x that this was the Collector's Edition price. Even though the std. ed. box art had the $39.99 price below it, he thought that a small blurb next to it with some other product priced at $49.99 would make it ok for me to pay that much.

3) Even though the website charged me $53.xx, and my credit card showed a temporary authorization for $53.xx, the charge would be "corrected" in the future to the lower amount. I showed him both my email receipt and an upto the minute charge record from my credi card's website (via iPhone). Even though this suggestion is ludicrous, I could not discount it because it hinged upon events that had yet not happened. I couldn't really tell him that CC wouldn't adjust the price in the future, and he was quite assured that it would. I told him that I would take it on faith that this would autocorrect, even though I have no reason to, and that if it didn't, I would be back for a correction, and he agreed to that. The high light of our conversation was when he said "Circuit City is a billion dollar company, we're not going to try and short you $10". INDEED! As if CC didn't basically pull this illegal bait and switch tactic every other week.

Absurdedly enough, the core of his misunderstanding was that I had paid for TWO items, and when he scanned the receipt, it only accounted for ONE item, the game, which had the correct pricing. He totally agreed with me that I SHOULD get the game and the gift card for $39.99, but I couldn't get it through his thick skull that this wasn't actually the case. This is partly because he did not understand how multiple item online ordered in-store pickup transactions worked.

The result is that I WILL get the game and gift card for $39.99 +tax, but it will be an enormous hassle, multiple trips to CC (which is thankfully on my way home, and doesn't add appreciably to my commute). I'll probably perform an email bomb across circuit city's top management just to voice my discontent over their useless retail staff.

That's possible, but I spelled it each time, and they repeated what I said. I just can't imagine. :frown:
