dear god the Microcsoft haters on this forum !!!!

you people realize how hard it is to make an OS. then make it so the power user can use it AND you grandma can too.
this is coming from a person running firefox under ubuntu.

MS does a pretty good job.
vista is bad cuz nvidia and ati (and all the other crappy hardware makers) can't get off their lazy asses and write proper drivers.(not that i am saying writing drivers is easy either)

oh yeah to the people who think directx 10 is a motivation to upgrade... let me tell you ITS NOT. maybe .1% of the total windows PC users actually have directx 10 hardware and maybe .2% actually care about gaming.

"kent people can come up with statistics to prove anything. 60% of all people know that.

Clearly it's not too hard for a community of people who don't get paid (or was it Linus?), so I don't have much sympathy for a corporation that has enough money to buy an island (possible exaggeration).

Look, I don't hate on MS for the sake of hating. I really was rooting for them to make a great OS in Vista. However, "a pretty good job" doesn't cut it for my personal security, much less in mission critical environments. Add in the fact that they want to charge an exorbitant amount of money for something I don't even really want, and really, what reason do I have left? If you love gaming like me, gaming on windows really is the only option we have, and that is why I feel forced into the inevitable DX10 path.

YOu know, when XP first came out, 98 ran games faster too. It took a good two years before games ran properly on xp.
what MS is trying to do is weed out legacy hardware and software. THey've done a great job writing vista. Heck, the OS was out 3 years ago, in beta test; yet the developers didn't get off their lazy asses to support it. I know I didn't get my canon printer drivers until vista almost came out. Bastages.
Maybe if you guys don't like vista, you should probably run more up to date hardware. Like dual core cpu's no?

Sorry ncage but the pre order was only good for the first 1000 people or 10 yrs and you missed out by 2 yrs.

I didn't like the dx10(not because it didn't look awesome) but because it was TOOOOO much foliage.

I think they have something new and want to put in all they can....slows down the game and jungle fighting might as well be with knives since you won't be able to see over 2 ft.

I sure hope its good since I will be purchasing it...and like other posters by sept maybe we can find it cheaper on pre or maybe BB or CC will have it on release for $29.99

I believe that MS said DX10 could have been made on XP but they would have had to rewrite the entire thing as it couldn't' just be transfered/ported over and would cost too much money to do that.

the internet made up the part about it being impossible.
