Crysis should be a nice benchmark for years to come.

But for actual gameplay, hah!

I'll be busy w/ UT3.

What do you guys think? Willl Crysis run at 2560x1600 on 2 8800GTX's in SLI? With all these rumors about Nvidia not launching a new high end this November, I'm getting kind of worried.
I mean, I allready can't play Lost Planet on DX10 path with all on high + AA and maintain good FPS. Or are LP and all other current DX10 games badly coded?

This means it will run slow on a 8800gts. WTF?

No thanks I'll stick to Unreal based engines which still look great compared to Crysis.

Is crytek multiplayer ever been proven? I played Farcry on xbox online but that's about it. It wasn't a very good multiplayer for the PC.

I doubt your gtx will handle that high of a resolution. Their recommended system is double compared to unreal based engines.

try medium details or else drop the AA or resolution
[i play it at 10x7 on my CRT for DX10 ... or else 16x10 in DX9]

LP is not badly coded; just not as efficiently coded as DX10 games that are being built with DX10 from the ground up.

BUT ... even with DX10's higher efficiency, the Devs will use the ever-increasing power of the GPU to crank up the details and add eyecandy even more. Recent "history" teaches us that it will be another YEAR before you will be satisfied at 25x16 even with SLI'd 9800Ultras; and in that same year the 19x12ers will be satisfied with a Single "ultra" or "xtx"

Same thing happened with DX8>DX9
--did everyone forget DE-IW so quickly? Released Dec 03, it *choked* a 9700p ... it was a PIG ... and it took the x850xt to run it fairly well ... the x1950p finally does really well with it. Six months later, Thief-DS on the same engine not only looked much better but ran better.
-DX history predicts our current DX10 HW/SW future ...
--painful

EDIT: Unrelated - except to DE-IW - i didn't know this ... from the Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deus_Ex:_Invisible_War
There is a hidden "easter egg" fifth ending, dubbed as "The Real Endgame", which depicts all the NPCs partying at Club Vox. This can be achieved by picking up the UNATCO flag at the start of the UNATCO level, putting it in the bathroom of the former office of UNATCO director Manderley and then flushing the toilet.[24]
i guess i need to try and find my old saves

I didn't see anything on the site that indicates what resolution these specs are good for. Could be 1024x768, 1280x1024 or 1920x1200. I would guess 1280x1024 but I wish I had some official word.

Actually, LP is coded extremely well and is one of the very, very few games that support Quad Cores (and they do it well I might add). IMO, Lost Planet is by far the best looking game out for the PC currently. I am sure others may object to that, but LP is incredable.

In some sense, the 8800GTS recommendation doesn't seem that bad if you consider that it was the upper midrange/lower high end card a year ago. The problem is that the way the video card market has progressed since then, the 8800GTS is still in the same category. I guess Crytek was banking on something much faster being out by now.

This is a fun level. You can bump the NPCs, throw stuff at them or simply stare at them to get various funny remarks from them. The exact characters in this level vary depending on what you did earlier in the game, since only guys who are still alive at that point will show up.

thanks, i didn't know about it ... and i really liked IW

the earliest G80 buyers couldn't get them to run in Vista - never-mind DX10 ... it is only in the last couple of months that we have any choice in DX10 games; i bought my 2900xt for DX9 with a "hope" to see them in DX10 in a limited resolution and i got my wish.

as to the Devs expecting something faster ... who knows ... they created it with G80 ... and they DID say (1) an Ultra-SLI couldn't get everything maxed and (2) 3 years from now it will still be challenging to high-end rigs
-just like FarCry

Actually it is quite sad...I was hoping ati would release their mid-range cards before crysis releases...

that would have made sense...

I am sure both nvidia and ati are having problems with dx10 hardware...'cause it is easier to make high-ends and low-ends with new tech but difficult to make a true mid-range one which requires a good grasp of the software's abilities and the hardware's capabilities.

Hah, I guess this really hurts Crytek more than Nvidia, since this severely reduces their customer base, and they never had the base that Bethesda had with TES to get away with a PC-choking engine.

I personaly think this game is going to be a real let down. I mean, their last shooter was not that great. I think its all hype. IMHO, seriously.

Isn't Gears of War supposed to come out for PC in the near future? I'm waiting to see how 2900 will fare with that game. If every other XBox 360 port is an indication, 2900 will perform relatively well in that game.

What a nonsense statement. You (or anyone of us) dont know much about the gameplay of this singleplayer game. So, why bring a multiplayer-only game into the mix?

I dunno seems like Crysis is opening all sorts of doors with regards to gameplay. What is so innovative about UT3?

If the past couple UT games are any indication, we shouldn't expect much.
