Also probly will have a blue cold cathode tube ^-^ and the 2 extra 120mm fan spaces filled. As I said I'd be running it all on highest settings and on the highest resolution a widescreen 24" LCD can give me. Wish me luck? Your predictions for FPS?

Highly doubt you'll see 50FPS with everything set to Very High @1920x1200 since you won't even get that much @ 1280x1024 on High settings. AA will bring FPS down even further. These were done with the 7.11s that gave @50% increase in CF in some games and though the 8-series bring a few more performance boosts I don't think it'll be enough to get you to where you want to be. Not even 3x Ultras will get there at Very High.

And no SSDs? That build is made of phail!

I'd say about 20-25 (with dips into the teens)... No way you'll get 50.

The 4XAA is really killing your framerate though.

Doesn't really matter. No way he's going to get 50+ fps out of two 3870s at 1920x1200 with max settings, AA or not...

con_restricted=0
r_motionblur=0
cl_fov=85
r_VSync=0

r_colorgrading=1
r_UseEdgeAA=0 <--- this can be 2 if you like

I get amazing FPS with these settings feels like 35-40 constant @ 1680x1050

.

I am running everthing on dx9 very high (cheap dx10 "hack"), shaders on medium, 2xAA -

1400x900 averaged 41.62 FPS (up from 28.5 using the Pydon Shader Tweak)
1600x1050 averaged 33.44

Very playable at either speed.

EDIT: I use the crysis benchmark_GPU.bat on xp64 in the xp directory. I also have had to crank down my GTX to eliminate the artifacts in crysis....

I don't know about that. Crysis with everything on HIGH in DX9 and shadows on Medium still looks better than any game on the PC to me.

When DAAMIT releases a card that is any form of competition to Nvidia's high-end...

Then I think, Nvidia will unleash the beast. I'm sure they have it in their labs.

google and download Fraps.
it will show your fps in game in the top corner of the screen. you may need to hit a hotkey (f12 i think it is)

i get about 45-50fps on medium at 1680x1050. about 30-35 on high.
HD3850 ftw.

GOT IT! Thanks.

I get 50-60 FPS running everything on HIGH and a resolution of 1280x1024. Sometimes it drops to the mid-forties or so, but then speeds right back up to mid fifties. ;-)

Easier than that... Just pull up the console with tilde key, and then type: r_DisplayInfo = 1 (r_DisplayInfo = 0 turns it back off)

With the system in my signature...

I get between 20FPS to 30FPS at 1280x960, no A-A, no A-F, at DX9 "Very High" tweaks (except that the Shadows are left at "High" DX9). Keep in mind that it will also depend on the levels I'm playing in, it will also depend on the time of the day (yes, day time is heavy on the performance loss due to better lightning quality and higher shadows complexity). It can also depend on the actual event taking place. If I am having a huge fire fight, it does down to 16FPS or so. If I look up at the sky only I can reach around 50FPS or more. If I look only at the water it goes around 35FPS.

It's VERY difficult to come up with a universal benchmark in a game with so many graphics settings and variables.

this is true, but fraps also has a cool recording feature.. AND it glows in the dark

I can play Crysis with the following settings; Texture: High (Very high doesn't show any difference at all), Shader Quality: Very High, Post Processing; Very High, Water Quality; Very High, everything else on high except Shadows which are on Medium. (I was using those hacked files) at 1024x768.

Min FPS:15
Max FPS:30
Average:23

I know that If I lower the settings, it would be more playable for sure, but even with such low numbers, is still playable, Motion Blur smooths the FPS considerably and feels like is running at higher fps.

FSAA kills the FPS with those Radeons, but the game will still be playable, 2 Radeon HD 3870 in crossfire tends to be faster than a single 8800 Ultra which still also quite playable under those conditions.

my prediction is that all that stuff wont fit in your case. 2 or 3 video cards, beastly psu, watercooling? lol, before you go buy a 1400 dollar cpu, you best provide yourself with a decent full tower chassis detective colombo

yes, crysis looks so much better because of the shadows. lolz. most games actually look worse with the crappy shadows.

My point is that the OP is going to be very disappointed in his gazillion dollar rig if he expects 50+ fps with all the goodies turned up...
