CS GO Framerate drop

Hello all.

I am having an issue since upgrading from a GTX 670 to a GTX 970 with framerate drops in game whenever there is gunfire. The game gives me 299FPS until the gunfire happens, then it chops to like 100 fps for a few milliseconds but its definitely noticeable. At first I figured this was a CPU or GPU related issue but I am starting to think its something else...

I've tried adjusting the video settings from all the way up to all the way down and restarting the client with no success. My power settings for my GPU & SSD are set to Maximum performance. My OS, Steam and CSGO are all installed on my Samsung SSD. I have done a complete uninstallation of my old video drivers using Guru3D's Display Driver Remover and installed the latest Nvidia drivers. I've also removed my MadCatz Rat TE mouse driver, Realtek Audio driver, and Realtek Network Adapter driver using
RAPR and installed the latest drivers.

At this point, I am considering formatting my C drive and doing a fresh OS installation.

Maybe someone can see something I am missing? :/ (PC specs in signature)

Thanks in advance

So apparently formatting your drive will not fix this issue... I'm going to try a beta soundcard driver from ASRocks site and then undo my overclock on my CPU & memory to see if that resolves it.

RMA time.
Yea pretty much.. I'm not 100% sure it's not my memory yet. I'm going to run memtest here in a little bit after windows updates is finished. I stuck my old 670 back in there and CSGO runs better. Good thing I didnt sell it yet Lol. Oddly enough, the 970 runs Ark:Survival Evolved pretty damn good. That being said, if its out of warranty since I bought it on ebay, can I list it as Working? It is technically running everything without BSOD. Bah, not really feelin like taking a $250 loss... then again I've been burnt on ebay before, why do I keep going back!!!

What is the refresh rate on your screen? Anything over 100 fps would be very hard to notice with perfect vision, and even the best monitors wouldn't give you over 120 hz.

I've gotten a lot of life out of this setup, alas - I've decided to part my system out and upgrade to newer architecture. I'm thinking i7 6700k, MSI GTX 1070, and an ASRock mobo as they've been real solid for me in the past. Will be nice to jump into something with the faster DDR4 memory too.
