That statement you wrote about how much is, lol, made a year, lol, insinuates that someone took the books and generalized the results of the numbers. You are only fooling yourself and others.

You obviously haven't done your homework on the matter. There are interviews with people who run these sites.

Like I said, makes no difference to me whether you believe it or not. Pick at it and call shens all you want, if it makes you feel better.

If you think people are spending billions of dollars a year to cheat (for single digit millions in prizes) at video games, you're delusional.

Yes, because I said that individuals are each paying billions per year.

And yes, nobody cheats in video games unless it's to win money. LOL

Billions of dollars. Kids paying billions of dollars from their part time McDonald jobs

Yep, you're right. You're entirely right! Nobody pays for cheats unless they're a McDonalds employee who pays billions of dollars, individually, each year solely for winning millions in moneyz!

noun
plural noun: people; noun: people; plural noun: peoples
  1. 1.
human beings in general or considered collectively.

Literally not a single person here will believe that the video game cheating industry has revenues in excess of a billion dollars a year. What percentage of gamers do you think cheat in online games? Now what percentage of those would be willing to pay money in order to cheat? Now multiply that fraction of a percent by the $66 billion a year video game industry.

Your argument style leaves much to be desired. "BECAUSE mcdonalds individuals are paying billions a piece?!?!" How old are you?

You're absolutely right! LITERALLY no one in here believes it! Literally! I mean, math doesn't work! It's entirely inconceivable!

I can't be assed to defend a statement when those attacking the statement are ignorant of the facts and when they, themselves, aren't interested in reading/watching for themselves.

It's clear you two just want to argue, so I'm going to have fun instead of cultivate a mature discussion. Why bother when the other two people in the conversation are just saying stupid junk?

I'm going to save you the trouble and make the thread with poll for you so we can see who buys into your billion dollar claims.

This is a multi-billion dollar per year industry. Yes, that's with a $B.

I'm not going to a cheating website, so I can't look into the actual cost of a monthly subscription to something like this, but it seems drastically overstated to claim that it's a billion dollar industry. If you assume $10 a month for cheats, you'd have to have a subscription base bigger than WOW to generate a billion dollars annually, let alone "multi-billion"s. Here's an article with actual numbers; unless you assume that there are thousands of other sites doing the same level of business as this one hack provider, it's a ludicrous claim that this is a multi-billion dollar industry.

Because individual WOW players are paying billions of dollars individually for cheats?

Take up the issue with the folks running the sites and doing interviews making that Billion dollar claim, then. I don't care. I'd rather trust someone who's involved directly than some yabo on the Anandtech gaming sub forum.

I am taking up the issue with the person making the billion dollar claim; that person was you. You made the claim without posting a shred of evidence in support. I actually posted a link to an article containing interviews with the people who run those sites and they don't report anything like the numbers that you've claimed but conveniently forgotten to link to. I guess that's because you're just some yabo on the Anandtech gaming sub forum.

lol, the CRT monitors

For a few months I borrowed my friends 24" Sony wide screen CRT. And yes, I took it to a LAN party. I owned everyone, I almost gave myself a hernia transporting it though. CRT for life though, people who game on LCD's are wanksters.

Yep, and with the rude hostility that was offered, I'm okay with not spending one single shred of effort to show you. I know that you won't bother looking it up yourself and I'm okay with that, too. I've come to terms with it. I've talked with my therapist and I'm pretty sure I can go on now.

Please don't use the "y" word here. It is a very offensive racial slur for some people.

I'd imagine that if it was a multi billion dollar industry then there would be a lot of interest from the tax authorities.
Cheating at games is one thing, cheating the government out of tax revenue on billions of dollars is taken a bit more seriously.

Since you don't pay 100% of your income in taxes (and, hey, tax breaks for the rich anyway!), I'm sure it wouldn't be billions in taxes missing.

Besides, who says they're all US-based companies?

Tax revenue ON billions of dollars not tax revenue OF billions of dollars.

Doesn't really matter if they are American, profits gotta be taxed.

and if they're not Americans? Newsflash, we aren't the only country in the world. Newsflash #2, tax evasion is a real thing and probably one of the biggest reasons that the profits from video game industry cheating aren't a common topic of conversation, which leads to why people are so quick to dismiss the income claims made in interviews by those involved.

Those other countries try to collect taxes as well, it's not just an American thing.

Ah yes the guys that sell video game cheats are also highly skilled at avoiding taxes on billions of dollars in multiple countries...

Or maybe the profits aren't anywhere near billions of dollars and it's not a big target for the tax authorities?
