CS:S Question

It's been a long time since I loaded Steam and CS:S and have a simple question for the CS:S gurus. How do I enable bots so I can get some target practice? I DL'd Steam and CS fresh tonight. The build date is 1/17.

I used to be able to launch CS:S and select Create Server, then set up the bots, but the option to create a server is not there. Seems like the last time I loaded Steam I added an option to launch properties but I can't remember.

When CS: opens I have a window with the following options:

On the left I have....
New Game
Find Servers
Options
Quit


On the right I have....
Servers
Friends
Steam


I've gone through every option under New Game, Find Servers, and Servers but nothing exists to create one.

It's hell starting all over again. :disgust:

Isn't "new game" the same as "create a server"? It really is...

Also...your options look a lot more like CS 1.6 instead of CS:S

You didn't list the "Video Stress Test" option, which is a dead giveaway

No and they never will. They've introduced more bugs than fixed.

Agreed Sounds like he is loading regular CS not Source.
The second option in Source is create server and then click ADD CPU player (bots)

I disagree.
I think that CS:S is better then CS 1.6.

You can do some messing in the autoexec.cfg file to persuade the hitboxes to be a little more accurate.

It does look more like 1.6 now that you mention it. No video stress test option at all. I DL'd from my Steam account instead of the HL2 CD.

Well, that only happens if their health is low, but still. A pea shooter won't kill someone. CS:S is just as good as 1.6. I like them both the same,but I prefer the better graphics of Source.

I got it sorted out. I ended up installing off the CD's and CS:S works fine. I went the DL route at first since I wanted an unattended install at the time. Oh well....

I like the look, but I either suck at CS more than I remember or the bots have started shooting better since I last played it. I've got a lot of catching up to do!

Don't use bots, CS bots are really bad. They can spin and headshot before you even realize you came up behind them. You are better off actually playing multiplayer.

What the problem with the hit boxes? Too small or too large? I find myself needing all the room I can get. I shoot at their feet, torso, head and still have a hell of a time bringing them down.
