Does CSGO run better on NVIDIA or AMD cards???

I'm really surprised to see some really low CapFrameX results with my system. I run 1080, everything on low in-game and on desktop (performance over quality) 5800X3D, 1867/3733, 6900XT (XTXH quality silicone)

On Nuke from the CT side in a 10v10 I see really bad drops. Frame-times are good. I've run around 7 120 second captures on Nuke from the CT side in 10v10 and my Avgs range from 189 to 238. My 1% Low Avgs, out of the seven captures, they range from 99 to 111fps. I'm in such disbelief I'm questioning if my system has a problem and I'm looking. Are these results normal? If you have any data could it be from the exact same scenario? Thanks

step 1:
make sure all your main board chipset drivers are up to date

step 2:
reinstall main board chip set drivers

step 3:
verify your main board XMP / DOCP profile is applied correctly.

step 4 ( if above fails ):
disable PCI Link State Power Management

the idea is to avoid the GPU idling down and going into a sleep state

step 5 ( if above fails ):

performance -> Tuning -> GPU tuning -> Min Frequency -> set to 1500


might want to turn that off when your not playing a game, will up your power consumption considerably while idle.

the idea is CS-GO is so GPU light the GPU is clocking down to save power. By upping the min frequency it reduces the GPUs tendency to clock down.


Thing is, if your chipset drivers are up to date this shouldn't happen. Step 4 and 5 are not ideal.

Thanks for the reply. Pretty much have all those nailed down. CPPC is enabled but CPPC Preferred is disabled. I was thinking maybe that's partially the reason. SMT is enabled, also.

Actually you can’t do anything about it. The game is horribly optimized in parts, the engine is very old and was patchworked endless times. CSGO fans have been asking for a Source 2 port since a long time.

Yeah I'm aware of how old it is and that it runs poorly at times I'm just surprised I'm getting drops that low. Same system with a 3090 Ti gets ~149 1% lows. There can't be that much of a difference I'm assuming.

3090 Ti is a stronger GPU than 6900 XT, I'd say the diff is pretty normal. 1% lows won't destroy your game though.

Edit: could be that the 6900 XT performs better with a 12900K etc they are king in CSGO, Zen 4 is the best. But like I said, I wouldn't care about it

Yes the avgs over 7 test ranged from 189 to 238. The GN review with the 3090 Ti was hitting 341 avg.

If your average is 189-238 it is factual that you use graphical settings instead of competitve settings, it's pretty obvious to any serious CSGO player what you do.

Your assumption is wrong. It's odd that this is the case when in-fact I am using low settings, as I stated in the opening post, on desktop and in-game settings.

EDIT: The scenario is semi narrowed to the CT side on Nuke and in 10v10. With UT4 it's pretty simple because as a match fills up with more than 8 players the lows consistently go down. Some maps are harder on the system than others but player count is a clear indicator.

Then reduce your resolution, pretty obvious - that's not "low" if you use 4K or whatever produces such a (relatively) low FPS.

Genuinely not trolling, I use way lower res than you. 1280x960, the settings multiple world-best rifler "NiKo" uses. And that with a 2080 Ti, not a 6900XTXH

Of course you're free to use sub-optimal settings if that is what you wish to do. If the avg fps is lower than with what GN had *WITH THE SAME CARD*, it depends WHERE he benchmarked as well. CSGO has wildly different FPS in newer maps (as in LOWER).
