According to the specs, having your resolution at 1024x768 you should be able to get 139 Hz! That's pretty darn good I suggest you take advantage of that.

Sams Club has some pretty good deals every now and then it is worth the $10 I pay to have a secondary card off my Mom's membership. Good prices on tires and they can special order alot of stuff. I will check out the Monitors here didn't notice them on Friday when I went to see if they had the $99.97 Burner.

Did anyone notice that it has built in USB Hub same as Gateway Rebadged Diamondtron 21" VX1120 monitors.

Just wanted to say that I have a CTX VL950 19" and it looks pretty decent, and i bought it in 1997 and it is working the same as the day I got it. There is some slight streaking, but again the one you guys are looking at now is a diff monitor with most definitley a diff brand of tube. Just wanted to put my 2 cents in on CTX's quality.

two things: I don't have the usb hub, and that just sucks. I've got bnc connectors and a damn serial port, but no hub.

The second things re: max refresh rate, I thought too high was also not good? they say 72 is minimum, but higher than 100 is not good.... did I miss some technical detail about how refresh rates work?

I think my max is 110 with my current vid card, but whenever buy.com fixes their back order on Radeon Vivo's...... ARGH!!!:|

Well, I got everyone at Sam's Club involved on this one (all the CSRs KNOW about the monitor by now).

The $220 "yellow truck" shipping price is correct. The monitor is too LARGE to go UPS (weight is fine, only 77 lbs). They are renegotiating the shipping charges with their shipper and should have revised (lower) prices in a week or two.

In the meantime, I'm still hunting for an inexpensive 21" monitor with AT LEAST 1 year warranty.

I would suggest that everyone who is considering this monitor call up and complain about the expensive shipping charge. See if you can speak to someone higher up in the chain. Don't expect a huge reduction in shipping because this is being sold dirt cheap to begin with, and it appears that CTX is making some of their money back in shipping. Since this monitor uses the Hitachi CRT (in my opinion one of the best) the CTX also can do high refresh rates that indicate decent electronics are used as well. Above all, MAKE SURE THE MONITOR CAN BE RETURNED WITH A MINIMAL SHIPPING CHARGE AND FULL REFUND IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED AND DO NOT FIND IT ACCEPTABLE! MAKE SURE YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH THE DETAILS OF THE WARRANTY! Otherwise, it is not worth the risk to get stuck with something you are not satisfied with. For those unsure about all this, a great deal was posted earlier with the same CRT direct from Hitachi that is new, but discontinued, (CM812) that is $639 plus $40 shipping that you can get a new replacement or FULL refund within 7 days of receipt if you are not satisfied. Of course, there is the standard 3 year warranty with the CM812.

apoppin, did they ever say anything about having these monitors shipped to their B&M?

They have bigger stuff than that on their stores, so maybe we can pay for it and wait till the day they deliver on their store with their own trucks. Shipping would be nothing then.

I'm not a Sam's member yet but I'll give them a call in a little while and ask for that.

man, for that shipping charge, you could buy it an airline ticket, buckle it in, and fly it in to LAX. what crap.

Two things I have questions on:
1. When is the B&M going to start carrying these? I'd rather pay tax than shipping. I was just going to settle and buy the PL9 since its only $219 at the B&M but since this has a USB hub in it and I am running out of ports again (and I just added another hub built into a keyboard).
2. Will they have a rebate on it like they have on every other CTX monitor that they have carried in the last two years?

They told me that they would not ship to the B&M stores. I asked...

I even called CTX and asked if I could come by and pick the monitor since I live about 50 miles from them. But it was a no go.

The only dim hope is to go to a store and ask the manager to carry that monitor. Which may not be a bad seller if they really sell it for $299.

I was thinking here whether there is any relationship between such low price and the crazy shipping. Meaning once they get rid of the fee they may raise the price if they see the item moving fast.

Anyway, I think I'll go to a Sam's club tomorrow and have a long talk with a manager and try to convince him of what a good seller he's got on his hand. And I won't be lying

I went to Sam's site and doing a search only yields a 17" and 19" CTX monitor. Where is this 21" that everyone is talking about? Thanks. Hope I'm not being foolish and just missing it.

The 21" is back on the site. Still not in my B&M :-(
I don't know if they've fixed the shipping fee yet.

Also, the 19" is $269 - $50 MIR = $219
Is the 19" any good? They have that at my B&M, so no shipping cost.

Read the thread about the Amex Blue card. I've posted some information in there that pertains to this deal. Essentially, if you have the Blue card, you can buy the monitor with the card from anywhere, and then pricematch it against Sam's $300 price. You can only receive a refund of $250 per item, however, so ideally you want to pay no more than $550 elsewhere. Lowest price I've yet seen is around $650, so if someone can find it for $550 that would be great.

This thing keeps showing up and then disappearing off the site. What the heck is going on?
