Curbing temper in teenagers... How?

Okay here is the short version of my situation. My parents are going through a messy divorce and my mom is also anorexic. I'm 24 and moved back in about a year ago to help out. I also have a 17 year old sister. The problem I am having is my sister is rebelling. She has always had a bad temper, but lately its becoming a violent temper. She just started seeing a counselor but she needs more I think. With my mom in current situation and the divorce keeps my dad from getting involved, I get a lot of the parental responsiblities.

Any advice from the parents out there?

I am not a parent, but she should see a counselor. I wouldn't take the advice of people online who don't know your sister.

go to one of your sisters cousleing sessions and tell her and her couselor that if she needs to leave you out of her flamefests.

I'm asking for advice or guidance from parents because they might have been there before. I just want to make sure I'm doing all there is that can be done. I don't want in the end to be like, "Oh I should have done that"

I'm pretty much referee of them. That way I know my sister won't lose her temper and do something stupid.

She isn't your child. She isn't your responsibility. You have your own life. Run as fast as you can and as far as you can. Get an unlisted phone number.

I'm a parent and that's the best advice I can give you.

my son is only six...so i cant advise from the parental aspect...but when I was 17 I rebelled really bad...gangs..drugs..the whole works... now I think I am a damn good person...the thing my mom did was she didnt try to tell me what to do....but she always let me know she was there for me...she let me live my life and make my mistakes...but I also had to learn to deal with those mistakes...taught me so much...and I love her for it

But do you let them just quit on school and things like that?

I did...but then I also had to get a full time job...on the spot...worked my butt off at little caesers...the thing you gotta do is let them have some control...let them make some decisions...but make them learn there are consequences for bad decisions...if she drops out of schoo...she has to pay rent

IMO...yes...but there isnt really a standard for raising kids...bottom line is you gotta communicate with her...find out what she really wants...and what she is doing just to piss everyone off...sounds like she is having a rough time (divorce and all)...talk to the girl like an adult human being and find out whats going on
