I am going to be networking a small office, with 10 workstations, all with gigabit NICs. So, this was my plan..
-Buy a gigabit wireless router (4 ports 10/100/1000)
-8 port unmanaged gigabit switch or 2x 5 port unmanaged gigabit switch
Now would there be any sort of bottleneck or any type of problems associated with using 2x 5 port switches as opposed to 1 8port? And would all computers be transferring to each other at gigabit speeds, except for the internet of course, but file sharing amongst the LAN would be near gigabit speeds?
And if I did go with 2 5port switches, does it matter if i plugged one in each slot on the router or if i plugged 1 into the router, and the other switch daisy chained and connected to the other 5 port switch? They would pretty much be the same correct?
And is it worth getting a managed switch? that's the same as getting a router correct?
