current e4300 overclock-ability?

I almost bought my setup today:
E4300
Abit IP35-E
HP DDR 667 memory thats on sale

Anyway, I showed a friend my order and he said that I should not expect my e4300 to OC very well. He told me the current 4300 chips being shipped are no where close to the older versions.

So, is this true? If so, where should I order my 4300 so I can get 3.0ghz+? I was going to order the cpu, mb and artic silver and cooler from newegg today.

It's true. I'm not sure where you can get the older revision of the E4300, but I think you will still be happy with its over clock. You should be able to get it to 3.0ghz no problem. Particularly if you're running at 9x333, which is perfect for the memory you have.

With stock cooling and stock volts, you're almost guaranteed 3.0 Ghz. Some get slightly less around 2.9 but most will do 3.0. 3.2 with more volts should also be attainable.

I was able to get 3.2GHZ. Forgot how much I upped the voltage. I think to 1.35

thanks so much for the reply guys. This really helped. 3.0 should be fine I think, I just didn't want to get a 4300 and be stuck at stock speed.
