All of NIS' console games are weird - I own all of them, I should know. They're also quite a lot of fun, and strangely addictive. There's just something about evilly manipulating the game mechanics for your own advantage and having the game explicitly and deliberately reward you for it... Disgaea 3 is phenomenal, definitely the most overlooked exclusive on the system.

Warhawk is another such game, although in a completely different genre.

5 good games haven't come out YET. But they will SOON. Pick up Uncharted 2 once it comes out, then God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, The Last Gaurdian, Metal Gear Solid 4.

There are some good multiplatform games such as Assassins Creed 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Dantes Inferno...

This. I loved the game, but haven't touched it since I beat it... which was about a week after I got it.

Warhawk is some fun primarily vehicle-based combat, but I never got very good at it.

Call of Duty 4 is one of my all time favorite shooters.

Battlefield 1943 is a small slice of one of my all time favorite shooters, and I have no doubt they'll be selling additional maps for it soon.

I really like Buzz Quiz TV, but nobody ever wants to play trivia games against me.

Resistance 2 co-op multiplayer online is a lot of fun, but I preferred Resistance 1 for single player. Also, only Resistance 1 has co-op two-player campaign mode.

Oh, I forgot about Warhawk. I love that game! Problem is, there's not a whole lot of players on anymore. Still enough to get into some games, but usually everyone is way better than you. Or glitching.

Games I really enjoyed so far on my PS3

Fallout 3 - long game that's just a ton of fun
BioShock - Amazing FPS
Orange Box - Honestly I played it all before on my PC but loved it so much I paid the $20 for this one and played it all through again start to finish.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine - I'm not a huge fan of 3rd person games but it was a fun, though sometimes to easy game.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - Again 3rd person, but I'm a big Star Wars fan so tend to look past somewhat boring and easy game play at times.
Uncharted Drakes Fortune: Great game for being a 3rd person, I haven't finished it yet but it's a lot of fun, great story, great voice acting etc. Makes me look forward to the next one.
