Here is an opinion some people will argue with, but it is my opinion.

Currently AMD is still in the position to eat into more of intel's market share as long as they keep producing reliable chips with a minimum of errata. (Remember all chips have errors, it is just what errors that are important.) The fact that AMD does not delve too deeply into chipset development is what holds them back from really kicking Intel in the butt. I am not a fan of either camp. I think that Intel products have a higher perception of quality because of their market domination for so long. It has been shown that Intel produces "bad" chips. (Chips which have interesting errata.) Why does Intel still have a fairly good image despite all the postponements of their chips. (Can you say P4 and P7). Did anyone remember reading Robert Collins's problems with Intel when he was actively reporting inconsistencies in the intel chips, they could make Rambus look like a little schoolgirl.
MY OPINION is Intel is behind Rambus and is trying to clobber the entire memory market in an Intel swoop of deceptive practices. Call me crazy if you like, but watch what happens when Rambus gets its butt kicked by the legal process. (Again my opinion).
I think the whole Rambus and Intel pointing fingers at each other is just smoke and mirrors tactics. I think Intel should stop trying to jam stuff down peoples throats and
get back to doing what they do best and make reliable chips and chipsets and stop all their stupid blue guy advertising and just lower prices. This would cause AMD to become even more competitive and thereby help the consumer in the long run.

As businesses Intel and AMD are not putting the consumer in the proper perspective until
they stop worrying about the "I Have the fastest chip or the most powerful chip". This is
just backyard name calling and only causes products to be rushed to market.

MAKE RELIABLE PRODUCTS that work!!!!!!! That goes for all component makers in the
computer industry in general. Stop letting Marketing departments dictating release schedules to the point that the hardware or drivers suffer because of unreasonable time
lines. Engineering and software development are forms of art as well as science.
