Ditto, just got an email from them as well. I certainly wasn't expecting the $10 credit, but give them kudos for doing so.

Definetly considerate of them...I hate it when companies (recently mwave) just blow off price errors like it was gas.

I thought the $10 was cool as well but I called them because I wanted to know when I could expect my refund back ( I used paypal). The first guy I talked to was pretty rude, now Ill give him the benefit of the doubt because I am sure I was not the first person to call. (and some people are real jerks) So I asked him how much the card price actually was, I mean what the heck I wanted a gt anyways and now I have $10 off! So then this guy tells me that 6600gts DO NOT EXIST. I was like "no they do". So he says let me transfer you back to the parts guy. So the parts guy is real nice, and explains to me they do not even have them in yet and the actual price will be about $150 more than it was listed. I chuckled and asked when he expected them in and since I was talking to the parts guy I asked about nf4 boards. He said they will have GTs in about 2 weeks and nf4 by mid November ( shocker). So I then ask the parts guy about my refund, he transfers me to another guy and that guy tells me 3-5 days. I said but "paypal is like paying in cash" and he gave me some bs about paypal being slow. So the moral of this story is:

1. The first guy that answers the phone has no clue
2. Parts guys are always real nice but because they hardly ever let them talk to customers
3. Do not use paypal on a "Hot deal" because its like using cash and you may be SOL for a few days if you really wanted to buy something with it

So get this... here is the email I just got:

Dear Customer,

Once again we would like to apologize for the earlier mistake on our website, and in order to make amends, we have contacted XFX and struck a deal on the GeForce 6600 GT card. We are authorized to give you the opportunity of purchasing this card before its release next Monday.

Advance purchase of this card is ONLY possible by clicking the link below:
LINK REMOVED

We have a very limited supply on these cards, so if you want to take advantage of this advance order opportunity, you must act quickly. If we do oversell, you will be notified via email. Our agreement with XFX allows us to pre-sell this card only to our customers affected by our mistake, so you can be among the first in the country to get your hands on this new video card. Be aware that though we can pre-sell our stock, we cannot begin shipping the cards until the actual release date of Monday, November 1, 2004.

Thank you for your time, patience, and understanding.

Very cool of them. I'm getting one just because they were cool about it. And its still a good deal at the price they are selling it for: 189.00

In case anybody cares, it's still listed at $139 from the original link (still out of stock). I wonder how ling it will take for them to post thre real price that the non-$189 folks will get.

I tempted to get it as well, since the initial price gouging will probably force this card to sell for $250. No tax to CA and free shipping too.

Only thing is I don't have a PCIe board yet, and I'm not sure when the NF4 boards will be available.

The link I got in email was for the GT. The order page confirmed it.

Just thought of something. Do you think they would let you use the $10 off offer with the new price of $189? Probably not, but wondering if anyone tried it.

$189 is not exactly hot. The MSRP is $199.

It's basically like they are applying the $10 credit to $199

I don't think they "struck a deal" with XFX. I think they are just offering people who found the error the first crack at the cards when they get them in. I bet the regular price will either be $189 or 199.

I guess it's still soemthing that they don't have to do, so it's good to see them doing something rather than just cancel all the orders.

To me the bigger question is:
Is the memory really 1200 MHz as it lists on XFX website? If this is the case, then this particular 6600GT is pretty killer.

True, but Newegg and others have this priced at $210 or more. Not hot, but not a bad way to go, especially with no tax and free shipping.

I called them when I first received the email on the new card. I spoke to Will and he informed me how to get the $10 credit applied to this card. I will keep you guys posted, he knew the situation and sounded like it would not be a big deal. So I will see what happens tomorrow. $179 sounds hotter

I have emailed them about the same thing. $179 would be pretty good and I think worth the 'speculation' of buying a PCIe card before PCIe A64 boards are available.

A quick pricewatch search shows $189.00 (search for "6600 gt") from Monarch. So they are not really cutting us a deal; although it is still the cheapest price listed. The $10 off would make this a warm deal at best.

Waiting for NF4 or have 915/925 already for a P4?

That's what I wound up ordering. $189 - $10 credit = $179 shipped with no tax is on the mild side of hotness.

My cheap-o 8400 refurb ($409 P4 3GHz/512MB/160GB/CD-RW/128MB x300 SE/modem/etc) is in bad need of a video card upgrade.

Monarch is a good company. I ordered at $189 before redeeming my $10 credit, and they applied it to the order after the fact. I think I'll check these guys first, then Newegg second, for future purchases.
