Cursing homeless!

I was walking down the road the other day and a bum began a litany of curses using all the words in the book and throwing garbage. He was cursing us for some reason (?) and the garbage was being thrown randomly. Of course its not worth getting in a fight over, hes probabaly just drunk and pissed at life.

A few weeks back one of the homeless people on our main road here in Halifax asked my gf for some money and she just ignored her (being asked every 20 seconds CAN get annoying) so this chick starting cursing my gf!

Does anyone else here get insulted by homeless very often? BTW, let me just end this saying that about half of the people who ask me for money say thanks and have a good day (regardless of whether any money is exchanged hands), so no I'm not saying bums are suck.

mmm nopes haven't......they're generally nice people, few of them are directly psycotic, and they have to maintain a nice attitude if they want to recieve ANY kind of money.

btw a fun story...I was in the train the other day, and a homeless was walking around collecting money. I had my graduation cap on, so he said "heyyy congrats with the cap, could I ask for a small donation? All of it goes uncut to a beer" oh well, I stuck him a buck

Which guy is he dean? THere is one guy always asks me for $.20 cents. Another guy with a beard, slight of figure, walks around with his bottles constantly screaming out loud on some speech, I never know what he's talking about!

I like the young people with the animals - one person has a cool house cat they bring around on a leesh...

no, the trains around Copenhagen city.....they're mostly outdoors, but in the city it's a little underground.....but street level still....it's kinda weird, but they're nice

IF someone asks me for money I offer to buy them food or clothes, most act disgusted and walk away, one actually said "what do I want with those?" But yes some are willing and are genuinly thankful. I dont like to give out money becauses its too open ended. I am not going to feed someones drug habit with my hard earned money.

Nope. Only 15% of the homeless are mentally ill.

And the other 85% are mentally incompetant. If they are able to walk up to me and ask me for money, they can get a job the same as I have to do. Not being able to work is total BS. There is jobs out there to fit anyone, and I've seen people working that are much worse off then 99% of the homeless people I have seen. You want it? Earn it. There are lots of places that hire people that are either homeless/transients/not well off.

I know a guy in North Dakota that works two jobs to support his kids (He is divorced, and has custody of both of his kids). He works in an office as a secretary from 6am to 5pm, then 6pm to 1:30am doing some kind of commercial telemarketing. BTW, he does this with no arms. He lost both of his arms in a rotary cutter, and has to use his feet. Amazingly, he types and writes better than I do

If that guy can work, doing the jobs he does, then just about anyone can. Its just a matter of if they want to work or not.

Well the only people I won't bother giving money to, ever, is the kids or people who are like 20 and clearly in good health. They seriously could go and work at mcdonalds. I'm not saying its a great job, it sucks, and I hope they get out of that position, but unlike somebody who's mind has been melted by too much booze, if you can squeegee and beg for money you can work in mcdonalds.

Most jobs require an address. Since they are homeless... well guess what?

And the reason they are homeless is because of financial reasons. They might have lost it in a disaster and unable to recover. Near poor people just went down the drain and lost everything, and so on.

I'm not employed, but I'm looking for a job.. and I do have an address, so I think I'll be able to get one, if I'm not too lazy

Certain cities made such actions so that none of their well to do citizens should ever see them.

I was in Seattle for a convention once and was approached by beggar in a 3 Piece suit! I couldn't believe it, this guy had decided to make a living this way, but the way he went about it was very respectful and classy. I was impressed with his act and gave him a $5 bill. When he opened his wallet, he had lots of money in there and I could see a Gold Citibank Visa that I readilly recognized. I just found it interesting, so I hung around and talked to the guy a little. It turnes out he makes over $50,000 a year, owns a nice home and started doing this after being fired from a job about 3 years before. Not exactly your average street bum, infact the guy says he doesn't even drink. What I witnessed was someone taking something that is normally pretty pathetic and somehow giving it dignity.

Even if this were the predominant reason, which it is not-most are just drunks, or lazy this still confers no obligation upon anyone to help. Doing so simply enables and allows the continuance of a lifestyle caused by conscious decision or individual mistakes.

The exception would be those very few who suffer a genuine physical of mental malady.

So you gave money to a guy making $50k/year who clearly is not actually in need of that money? I'll give money to somebody who needs to eat, but if they need to make payments on their car, buy a new 40 of rum, or get a new piece of Nikes they can go elsewhere.

You say it gave something normally pathetic dignity, but I think he did the opposite, whereas he doesn't even need the money, and can clearly get a job elsewhere h is still begging from others. If you physically cannot work there is nothing to be ashamed about begging from others, nothing at all - but if u are fully capable of working I think its sad.

I was &quot;conned&quot; out of $2.70 a couple years back. A token amount of money, but its given me a cynical eye on people asking for money since then. Anyone who says &quot;I'm not a bum, but...&quot; is both a bum and a lieing scum bag.
