Hey guys,

So today, my housemate, UDONOOGEN, bought a nice Viewsonic PF790 Flat-screen monitor. I told him awhile back to get the flat-screen but he was like, "NO!! Curved monitors is so much better! You can see GLARE!" and I was like, "What are you talking about? Flat-screen monitors are so much better!" I can't believe he thinks that GLARE is a good thing! I mean, I guess if it reflects information off the screen, you can see it at all angles, but at the same time, glare PREVENTS you from seeing like 50% of the stuff on your monitor!

But now, he loves his flat-screen monitor and will never go back to curved again.

Ahh....what do you guys prefer?

I actually prefer slightly curved monitors and TV's, though not because of some idiotic reason like more glare. I don't know why, they are just a little more asthetically pleasing to me. I have a Samsung 950p, it's perfect, almost flat but not quite. But if my choice is between flat and fishbowl I'll take flat without hesitation.

Dell Flatscreen @ work, Viewsonic Flatscreen @ home.

I hate to use curved monitors now because they look like fishbowls.

I used a nice flat-screen sony trinitron for a couple of years and then switched to a larger non-flat-screen monitor. It looked like everything was distorted.

Me = Samsung 900NF
I don't have a choice as to flat or curved, I haven't ever found a curved 19" monitor that can do 1600 x 1200 at 85Hz (anything over 19" is too expensive, and i WILL NEVAR LOWER MY RESOLUTION!!! grrr :|) so i guess a nice mitsubishi diamondtron will do

ramble++;

It actually pains me to look at those old curved 14" and 15" monitors of yesteryear. My eyes actually feel like they are trying to warp themselves around the screen to read it. Me no likey.

I'm still waiting for convex monitors, flat is good, but it could get so much flatter.

All the present day monitors are pretty crappy, to say the least. Your eyes get tired and they start to ache because of crappy monitors, no matter even if they're TFT.

When the heck will they produce a really good, harmless on the eyes monitor?

I have spent a very small amount of time using flat screens but they appear ok. My curved one is working just fine for me, no reason to get another one yet. Now an LCD, thats tempting.
