CUSL2-C restarts instead of shutting down..any ideas?

Running Win2k, when I do Start->shutdown, the machine reboots instead of shutting down. What could be doing this? I noticed that it doesn't like SB Live! either.

In the BIOS, if plug and play OS is on, turn it off. If it's off, turn it on. Let me know if that works.

I had this problem with a ISA ethernet card and a PCI video card. Once I assigned an IRQ to the video card all was well...the ethernet card was replaced with a PCI version.

There are no isa cards in the machine. Before I pulled out the SB Live, it had a "!" on the floppy disk controller. I've never seen that happen with any pc's with Win2k on it. This is after I pulled out almost every peripheral and disabled USB ports to get as many open IRQ's as possible!

If you have an SBLive,

Set IRQ 5 Reserved to Yes in PCI/PNP Resource Exclusion list in the BIOS.

If you are not going to use the 2nd serial port, disable that in the BIOS to free up an IRQ

I had this problem of shutdown/re-start with Win 98 many months ago. MS issued a patch for it eventually. One quick fix that worked for some people was to click on RUN from the destop start button and type in msconfig and then click OK. From the resulting window, click on ADVANCED and check or uncheck the little box with Disable Fast Shutdown next to it. Be sure to shutdown and come back up to try this. If it does not work then re-set it like it was. I do not know if this msconfig is available in Win2000 or not, but you could take a look. GOOD LUCK!!

I have the same prob with my CUSL2-C. Only happens when I overclock though. Try setting your CPU back to its rated speed (only for a little while) and see what happens.

This has to be a BIOS issue, hopefully this will be fixed in the next BIOS release.

I'm not overclocking and yea it does seem like a bios issue. Damnit, people highly regard this mobo and they didn't tell me squat about these issues!
