On cold boot, the CUSL2 does not load the user settings for VCore Voltage until after POST is complete.

Settings in VCore are retained on warm boot, so this does not occur with a Ctrl-Alt-Del.

This means that for CPUs that just can't boot at overclocked speeds at default 1.65 volts (and there are a few), you will get the speed error and go into the BIOS for a failed overclock attempt.

My own P3-700 CPU requires 1.85 volts to operate stably at 933, but it is able to boot at 933 with 1.65 volts. There are people out there that need 1.85 volts or whatever just to boot at their overclocked speed, and this is where the problem arises.

so in other words, for those who need something more than the default 1.65v just to boot, they will have to enter BIOS everytime they cold boot just to rasie the voltage past 1.65v?

and i have been hearing about this "bug" for quite some time now. i wonder why ASUS hasnt fixed the problem in their numerous CUSL2 BIOS updates...

Apparently the cold boot issue cannot be resolved by a BIOS update, but requires an actual hardware revision.

Not sure if this issue was fixed on the CUSL2-C.

I have the CUSL2-C, I am running a celeron II 633 @ 1007 at 1.9volts and I do not experience the "cold boot" syndrome.

Rebels7: you won't know unless your CPU can't actually boot at that speed with more than 1.65volts.

so how can one OC a CPU to a certain speed if it wont boot at that particular speed and voltage?

Boot up at normal speed, go into the BIOS and then set to overclock sped, then reboot.

Otherwise, don't turn off your computer/avoid cold boot.

I am currently experiencing the same problem with my CUSL2-C and a CII 600 that's guaranteed at 924. It won't boot at 100FSB, but so far, I've been running it at 700 and will try 800 tonight. Someone on CUSL2.com has a link to some type of wire trick where you wire a couple of pins on the CPU together to provide more juice on cold boot and I was wondering if that might help.
The other option would be to never turn the damn thing off, but that seems silly. wonder if Asus has a solution in hand and if they're going to be friendly about free upgrades?
