Over here in Denmark (Northern Europe!) the Gigabyte WF3 290 is ~$16 less than the Sapphire, and it also includes a copy of BF4, something the Sapphire does not.
Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.. if only there had been any reviews of that card, I'd have jumped on it..!

Are you sure the Sapphire doesn't? The UK Sapphire 290 has BF4 included.

It is a little strange, but at least it does not appear to be advertised on this website. Perhaps it's an omission on their part. The card isn't in stock until January 31st anyway, plenty of time for them to work it out

Yeah but the Gigabyte WF3 R290 is rubbish, hot and loud.

Really? That surprises me. The Windforce cooler is really good in my experience, although my 670 arguably uses less power than a 290. Oh well, even more reason to look forward to moar reviews..

They were in stock briefly earlier today. I have two of the 290s on the way

Cool/congrats! Look forward to see what you think once you test them out.The price is lower than I thought these cards were going to be from seeing the Gigabyte prices. Not too bad!

AnandTech's review of them was VERY positive, so I'm eager to put them through their paces as well. Curious to see if I can OC as well as they did - their OC'd Sapphire was beating out a 780 Ti.

Yeah I will probably replace my 7990 with a pair of reference R9 290s @ launch-ish prices when they fall back to earth, and crank up the fans, rather than pay that much more for non-reference 290's. I'll wear headphones and pocket the $100 difference per card.

I curious to see how much headroom overclock these cards have once guys start getting them, so looks like you going to be first up! Hey do you know if they are going to be producing a 290 Lightning or that going to a be 290X only card?

There $100 more then the Reference MSRP prices.

Actually if you read the AnandTech article the MSRP for this particular card is $449.99. After various discounts and two-day shipping I paid ~$490 per card, which is a mere $40 over MSRP.

I am unaware of plans for a 290 Lightning, but I'll probably buy two of the 290X Lightnings when they come out as long as they aren't more than $40 over MSRP.

Lightning, Toxic and Matrix are made of the best gpu of the series so only expect the 290X variation of these models.

Yeah that is what I was thinking wondering but they did make a GTX 770 Lightning so kind of was wondering.

Haha yep. I'll be doing some OCing and benchmarking before I do that with these puppies though

I'm surprised that the 700 USD +8 USD Shipping Gigabyte Windforce 290x manage to sell out at that price.

People are crazy.

Yep $150 more then reference MSRP for an AIB Air cooler - Insane - Isn't it.

I paid that for a XSPC Razor/Back-Plate WB on a $549 Reference 290X a month ago.

They had like 12 cards if i'm not mistaken, per newegg business (which lists quantities). I guess 12 lucky people were able to grab one. Lucky or crazy. Take your pick.

Maybe you guys need to buy from Australia and get it shipped to the USA.. because its selling at MSRP since launch.

Heck, or pick an Asian country without GST/VAT and you could get an awesome deal with the exchange rate into USD!

ps. 1 USD = 1.13 AUD atm, you'll make out like a pirate if you buy a lot and re-sell them to american miners hehe.

Consider an EVGA 03G-P4-2884-KR GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked sells for $780 with Splinter Cell.

NewEgg is selling the 290 at 290X MSRP prices - How about this $820 listing : http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814131543 listing for a WB Reference that cost me $700 a month ago for a Ref-Gigabyte R9 290X/XSPC Razor with Back-Plate.

I would consider buying from down under if the postal rates and duty fees where as cheap as from China - I'm Canadian.

No doubt the Ref-R9 290 was the best Bang for the a month ago.

Considering she will do 1150/1500 Mhz with 512-Bits and 4Gb's of vRam with a meager +138mV - Hot and Noisy as H**l ;o)

For another $150 more get a 290X that will do 1200/1500 Mhz's. Is it worth for the Gamer? I don't think so neither is the price of a GTX 780 Ti costing $200 more.

AMD design their Reference Cards to be under Water in which you can pump more Voltage through them that would; other wise, incinerate a nVida Card.

There isn't a single point here that isn't completely made up.
