Gee, think there's a more expensive one out there?

Newegg is out of their mind. I hope people aren't dumb enough to actually pay these prices.

People obviously are dumb enough to pay these prices, as there are plenty of verified reviews of the 700 + 8 USD Gigabyte one.

The 780 + 8 USD Powercolor with the EK block is actually sold out as well.......

On a side note, I have finally managed to coax all my cards to 1000 core 1500 memory now

I'm quite satisfied with my 3x card purchases now that I was able to achieve that.

What's your combined hashrate with all of that...stuff? It's gotta be pretty sick i'd imagine.

975 + 882 + 882 = 2739 kh/s

When I try to do higher clocks/voltages on the cards my PSU hits the OCP @ 12a @ the wall sometimes o.o

I guess that's convenient, since if I do 12+a @ the wall for more than a couple of hours my circuit breaker is supposed to blow as well.

Assuming those 3 cards (290x/290/290) are all in the same PC, how many watts does that PC pull?

I was kind of expecting that once the cards were launched, there would be reviews. Not that reviews would randomly appear of one or two cards across a dozen sites at various times over a 2 week+ period.

If there was any method to the reviews/etc then it would help. As it is, due to the way that no one seems to have got review cards, I can't be as bothered to try and update random things that happen.

Pretty terrible custom card launch really.

NewEgg bumped the price of the Tri-X 290 to $579.00 now, but I'm willing to bet the MSI R9 290X Gaming price will drop as they have 54 in stock and I don't think they've been selling too well at the current (ridiculous) price of $719.99.

I think people are willing to pay quite a price premium on the R9 290's because there isn't a huge performance difference between the 290 and the 290x, and AMD's original MSRP @ $400 for the 290 was pretty aggressive but once you start asking people for $700+ on a 290X that's where most will draw the line (as it doesn't make any sense for miners anyway).

I think what we REALLY need is for Litecoin to crash in value down to the sub $5 range, so all of those hoarded ATI cards start showing up on eBay for less than retail.

THEN we'll finally be able to find a reasonably priced 290 with a custom cooler.

What I really do not understand is why is everybody waiting for these custom coolers. Doing the AIO water mod is cheaper (Thermaltake AIO is $40 after rebate on newegg today I think), quieter, and it cools a lot better than any of these aftermarket tri-fan coolers under load.

Nobody mining LTC in the EU? I heard that is behind the scarcity.

Nah. Like above poster stated, it is profitable in some countries (US) while not being profitable in the EU. With some countries being outliers. Energy cost is a huge variable in this respect.

XFX doesn't void the warranty if you swap the cooler. I'm moving to a closed loop one myself early next month, using that bracket thing though, not zip-ties
