customizing counter-strike (cs) player models, and text color?

I went some cafe yesterday and they had a pc room setup.. played for an hour. They customized the player skins, it was nice to see something different for once after playing cs with default models. Also the chat text was in "red" which was better on the eyes as opposed to the orange. How is this done?
Does anyone know a site where I can dl player models ?
