I would agree with you, except I didn't invent the term. SJW clearly refers to online vigilantes attempting to wreck people's lives, typically based on very little evidence or due to minor infractions. The are a virtual Lynch mob.

Sir, I've been reading over your posts this evening and I hope it wont make you mad but you've been using a non-stop barrage of logical fallacies. MOSTLY strawman, but quite a few of the others. This only works if you use an entirely circular definition of 'social justice warrior' (to mean, someone who posts anonymous death-threats and such like in response to unsupported accusations of bad behaviour by someone). In which case it becomes true but tautologous. Using the term doesn't add anything to the point and just confuses the issue with all the other associations of that term, including who uses it. Why not just stick with the simpler traditional term, vigilante?

My understanding is, the term started as a mildly derogatory term used by leftist activists about those of their own who seemed far too fond of striking poses and fighting battles they didn't have direct experience of or really understand, then got seized on by the right to describe almost anyone on the left and use as a means of avoiding having to actually address issues so they could instead just dismiss anyone who said anything they didn't like. This is pretty much exactly the same pattern followed with the term 'political correctness'. The way these words migrate seems very predictable because everyone in politics is stuck performing the same dance forever.

Internet warriors are just a modern version of lynch mods, that instead of killing people they make sure they are fired and can't get work again. The selection of which "bad person" gets harassed seems to be mostly random or because the right "influencer" picked it up.

You really need to get some help.

Meanings of words and phrases change over time, I didn't wake up one day and decide to start using SJW to describe internet vigilantes, society did or at least a large chunk of them did. This is very similar to the Gadsen Flag, it was designed in 1775, was just an interesting piece of US history for 234 years, until the Tea Party took it over as a symbol. Now instead of being a symbol of the US revolution it is seen as a racist symbol and even ruled as such by the EEOC. Further if you tell a republican it is racist they will have a cow, just like several of our more progress members did over my use of SJW.

Further, please find one contemporary example of "Social Justice Warrior" being used to describe MLK, Malcom X, Susan B. Anthony, or any other major civil rights leader. The only way I've ever heard the term used is against extreme internet vigilantes.

Based on this response though, I assume you are exactly the type of person I am discribing. I complain about people trying to destroy a business based on a LIE, and you throw up a wall of text with more than a dozen cuss words accusing me of falling for neo-nazi propaganda. The problem with redefining words as rapidly as the intarwebs do is it obscures communication outside of the microcosm that redefined it. As big an impact as the internet has, it is NOT the driving force behind society.
