i was considering this because its cheap and plays svcds. any comments on it? i never heard of this brand.

Just FYI for anyone interested in this info:

I bought two of these last November and I've been totally thrilled. Yes, it's cheap, and that's exactly why I bought it. I've got kids and I'd rather have them break a cheap unit than a high-dollar one!

As for compatibility...well, it's awesome is all I can say. I've played DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, JPG and MP3 discs, VCDs...you can't ask for more for the money. And if you look around, you'll find hacks that disable the Macrovision and also make it region free. It's even got digital audio outputs and Dolby 5.1 outputs, along with component outputs.

Obviously, I'm very pleased.

I guess I'd pay $88 for this because it's _almost_ as versatile as my Apex, but I'm much happier knowing I only paid around $40 AR AC at Best Buy in December.

Hey isnt it more versatile than the apex? I see it has mp3 long filename support and a dts decoder on it as well

Actually the Cyberhome is more versatile than the Apex, more features such as built-in decoder and digital outs and you can disable regions & Macrovision via the remote. When I bought from BestBuy.com they were about $40 AR shipped. Would I buy again today for $88 shipped? You bet. I bought an Apex once and it's sitting in a landfill today.

Just got the Dvdplayer and man it kicks apex's arse. Plays everything I got even the dirty burned dvds. Dts Decoder woohoo. I don't have a Hdtv so i cant test the prog scan but its there.
