So we got the first reveal of Cyberpunk 2077. Not much info but we got some glimpse of the world and some of the characters that inhabit that world. Looks good. Of course CDPR said it will be DRM free on Windows with no microtransactions (as expected). No release date (again expected) but there appears to be progress on the engine at least.

I have to say that this might be the game that finally forces me to finally upgrade my PC (Win7 64bit Ultimate, Intel i7-3770, 16GB RAM, EVGA 670 FTW)...

Yeah, that trailer by the end the MS conference definitely woke me up.

I'm generally happy, from what was "shown". But I'm not going to fall for a trailer that have obviously been scripted to be spectacular and presentable at a big convention, and event like E3. I'm going to need actual genuine gameplay in front of everyone, with random Joes going to play it and giving their comments about it (the worst type of "demonstration" we can possibly get is whenever some guy from a dev team shows up on stage, or on the dev team's booth later on and have their guys "playing" the game for the crowd; THAT stuff, for me, is a big red flag).

And, CDPR please this time, do NOT try to look tough for the cameras by showing some super detailed scripted "in engine" demo only to downgrade it later on. We KNOW you can make actual good games with good gameplay and especially good characters, writing and quests. I do NOT need some linear presentation of a Mega Super Duper Ultra HD particle effects system (obviously in the rain) and rendering techniques in a deserted street (at night, duh) with one single car with 4 quadrillion polygons passing by. Just show me the game "as is" and I'll understand on my own if you're pushing it too far and if it's plausible that 'x' % of it will be cut out or downgraded later on.

I just want them to be respectful of our intelligence, transparent and honest. Do that, essentially give me Witcher 3 in the future and I'll be there Day One throwing money at you.

Based on my Witcher 3 experience, Cyberpunk 2077 might be a day 1 buy for me. I almost never buy full priced games but I feel CDPR has earned my support.

It was an impressive trailer and I'm glad to finally see it revealed. According to their little hidden blurbs, they are going to follow the Witcher 3 model with free minor DLC and full sized expansions. Considering how good Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine that's awesome in my mind.

I think CDPR's biggest challenge is going to be how to handle a player created character that can be different classes and genders, instead of a fixed one like Geralt. That's something they haven't had to deal with yet so I wonder if they are going to go the Cmdr Shepard route.

I still want a first person Shadowrun, but this will do nicely.

(The MMO is crap, and the TBS's are too short.)

Cyberpunks seem to be fascinating, good visuals with pleasant music and more importantly well-plotted storyline.

I would rather see 10 seconds of gameplay than these cinematic trailers.

Trailer was pretty badass but also a little flat in some ways. That said, I know CDPR will put out at least a competent story-driven single player game and it's cyberpunk genre, so insta buy.

My understanding was they'll have a playable demo and more info at their booth, so we'll see what's up.

I treat these things as an engine demonstration, not a game demo. As was mentioned they should have a playable demo in the booth so we will get impressions.

Day 1 Witcher 3 was riddled with game-breaking bugs and glitches. It took almost a year for them to squash all the major issues but many people claimed it was flawless from day 1 while others couldn't even make it into the first town without CTDs.

Disappointed they didn't sneak a Ciri & Avallac'h cameo into the trailer. Hope there won't be too long of a wait.

The actual reveal during the xbox presentation was pretty cool, they dumped a bunch of real Xbox Witcher 3 codes onto the screen during the "hack".

And a secret message hidden in there from the developers.

ITT: People pretending that CDPR doesn't learn from their mistakes.

There will still be launch issues, that's unavoidable, but I do have faith that they won't be as bad. I have yet to see them repeat a mistake that they get called out on and acknowledge.

The aesthetics came as a bit of a surprise to me considering the first trailer.

I thought there might be a bit more noir but its early, however I can understand the vibrant colours considering the punk origin, in fact they might pull off a great contrast between day and night during the game.

I just hope the gameplay is tight, however I can look the other way if they got a story similar to quality of W3. It will be very hard for them to surpass W3 as this is their first time stepping out of that time period.

I want to see this city in HDR. Hopefully they have HDR on PC and don’t screw us like they did with Witcher 3 that has HDR on console and not pc.

But a game of this caliber is bound to have multiple issues on launch. Smart money says to wait for the game to be out a few months and then jump right in. No game is released without bugs these days.

I can't speak for others, but my assumption is that some people will buy games on day one partially as a show of support for the developer, and as a vote of confidence in the game they've put out. One wouldn't even need to intend on playing it right away, but it may be more of an expression of support of the dev's track record.

I concur up to a point; while I wasn't playing W3 on day 1, I remember when I was first playing it some time after its initial release that doing anything on water (swimming, boating) caused the game to chug and it still didn't perform well after turning water detail/effects down to the minimum. Some patches later and I run those settings on the highest detail levels with no trouble.

I fear heavy system specification ahead, we may have to upgrade our rigs as the game seems graphics intensive.
