The 1080TI is not dead, at least give it six months for the developers to iron out the bugs, performance issues, and Nvidia to get out a couple more optimized drivers.

If you wait another year the 4080 will be out anyway, so probably best to wait until then with seeing how limited stock there is of the 3080.

We will be lucky to see them squeeze much more out of the game to make a huge impact and I doubt the 4080 is a year away.

My line of thinking also. I'm waiting until January to see if a 3080ti is announced. If not, and I still want to play this game I'll just get it for the Series X until I can find a new gpu at some point.

But for now I guess I can go back to playing demon souls on ps5. It's difficult playing this game at sub 30 fps to enjoy it.

Are the console ports any good? I remember hearing the XBox port was supposed to be the big reason for the delay from summer to November (and then December).

I'm not sure I'd call it a port. It's clear the game is designed to be played with a controller. Even to the point of being seriously WTF on m/kb assignments.

I don't know, I liked Witcher 3 a lot better on controller than kb/m but that game felt like it was made for PC first.

KB/mouse controls are fine; sounds like the game's a real mess on the previous gen consoles. But that's for another, lesser thread!

Also, I'm a whopping 2-3 hours in and haven't gotten to test out my hand-selected genitalia... 3.5/10 game, basically unplayable.

It feels like there is some mouse acceleration to me, but there are no options to turn it on/off. Mouse control just doesn't feel nice for some reason. I even tried putting settings super low to get high FPS and it doesn't improve it.

The game was made for the last gen consoles as well they've said. They added no new fidelity/enhancements for the new consoles, they said it's coming later in a patch. If you look at screens from the game running on a PS5 vs on PC, it's a night and day difference in quality of graphics.

CDPR always releases buggy games, hopefully they talk about a patch soon, I might prefer to wait for at least the first post-release patch to sink my teeth into the game.

I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing mouse acceleration there. It's really annoying in gunfights. I turned off aim assist but they're no other options. I hope they patch that but that's wishful thinking.

Several hours in, its much closer to an interactive movie, but the story and atmosphere have been amazing so far. Sold 1 there.

Ouch. They said it was like playing a Switch port of a game.

I think in a perfect world they would have released the game in 2021 and make it exclusive to next gen consoles alongside the PC. Unfortunately they needed cash flow, and Covid complicated everything, not to mention the difficult launch of the new consoles meant a low user base.

They simply announced the game too early in hindsight. If they never made such an early announcement they could have gotten away with a next gen only release in 2021, avoiding all the Covid issues and had a much larger user base for the PS5/Xbox.

If performance improves, I expect it will come on CDPR's end from optimizing the game, not nvidia or AMD's drivers. The game ready CP2077 driver didn't do anything for me, and actually seems pretty buggy, as I'm getting texture flickering in some other games with it.

I made a small post on reddit about my performance and people jump and tell you that this game is not for ps4 and old gen consoles or cards like mine lol.

Forgetting that this game was announced a long time before any of these new items were available and should have been optimized better. It was suppose to be out in April so it's so odd that the old gen consoles run like garbage.

I need to update my drivers from Nvidia and try again tonight. I'd love to enjoy the game but I may just end up putting it aside for now. It for sure is a fun title worth playing if you don't mind the bugs and can actually run it properly.

I agree. I'm about 4.5 hours in and running on a 4 year old GC and it's pretty engrossing. If you like sci fi dystopian settings then you are good to go. The story is where it's at. The prologue is 6 hours long so take that as you will. I just can't wait to see what happens. It's definitely got some issues, mouse movement during gunplay feels a bit off with some sort of acceleration, I've seen a couple small bugs with video like a character walking right through me or an NPC twitching once, but nothing major.

That's absurd. I have the same card as you and its still a beast in every other game out there without RTX on. They really dropped the ball when optimizing for old consoles, I can almost certainly see them making some major downgrades in the next few weeks.

I have a worse graphics card than you, at least the r9 390x has 8gb ram, but it's no 1080Ti, and if I put it on Medium settings at 1080P, then lower a couple shadow settings but up the detail and ambient occlusion, I'm in the 40-45 FPS range so far and it looks great.

Are you playing on a FreeSync monitor? With a standard 60 Hz monitor 45 fps feels worse than 30 fps for me with Vsync on since you alternate between frame 0 being displayed for one refresh, then frame 1 being displayed for two refreshes, then frame 2 for 1 refresh, frame 3 for two refreshes, and so on so it never feels smooth. But without VSync sometimes the tearing can look really bad to me. I think I'd probably be around similar performance (Xeon E3-1231v3 + GTX 1660 Super) so I'm wondering if there is something I'm missing when it comes to making tearing less noticeable. Kind of wondering if I'm going to have to drop to half rate VSync and cranking motion blur to hell to play this at 30 fps console style but at least with PC level visuals.

I don't think I would have made it current gen exclusive but yeah would have helped to wait until supply came anywhere close to demand on the current gen consoles.

Yup they will have to downgrade or downscale the resolution on the old gen hardware. Because right now majority of the players are going to be on those systems.

I think they should have delayed the game further, optimized it for pc and the consoles, then released it. If anything it should have been released on ps5 and series X with the next gen enhancements.

This wasn't done obviously since they had initially made it public that it was going to be ps4 and xbox one. Can't even say it's scope creep that took place during the delays but something definitely went wrong and they were probably rushed by the business folks to make it to market before Christmas.

The fact that the next gen console enhancements won't come until 2021 means they are really not done with it and it will be an ongoing project.

On ultrawide 3440 it's a bit more demanding. I will do a clean driver install tonight and probably report back on what I find.

Definitely not a freesync monitor. This BenQ I have is an IPS panel geared to photographers who want accurate color spaces, you can change its color space with a physical dial. Nothing gamey about it. I do have Vsync set to 60 in game.

The 1080ti can't run ray tracing or dlss either and if you can play at 4k with stable fps on the series x or ps5 then that's better than what my pc is getting.

I'm sure there will be some optimization patches in the future I hope. Or at least a guide on optimized settings from some YouTube tech reviewers hopefully soon.

Honestly don’t think you would be getting 4K anyway so it’s no big deal. I’m sure the series x is dynamic.
