i may have been confused
It's a weird time-reality that we currently live in.
But when I think about this release, and it's still only been ~ 1 year, it seems "not that bad;" except for the fact of the hype that this generated for so many years. That has a huge impact on impressions, for sure.
That aside, they've at least done some very good work in polishing a good amount of turds out of what was already a damn good core game and concept--consider that beloved games like Vampire:Bloodlines was broken for so horribly long, still mostly loved, and really required a community patch to fix it, years later, to make it playable by the general masses. To me, it's the same sort of thing even though I understand that publicity behind these two games, in their respective times, was certainly incomparable and have a large influence on the state in which they were released.
Still, because of that long history of expectations when big games are released and what can happen, this doesn't bother me so much. I only hope that they can weather this mess with enough support to start expanding the world a bit more
