Errr okay.

I want to pay 20X on an item as well.

The interest rates on a CC and the money put in a savings account would more than make up the difference.

Cyberrebates makes money on the float. They charge 2-5X the actual price of an item and get an interest free load until the rebate is paid.

P.S. They have had free shipping now for months. I stoped using them after being denied a rebate because of a rebate form not having a survey completed.

Actually, they make a lot more money on "breakage". This is the rebate refunds that "break" - i.e., the customer doesn't send the rebate form back for whatever reason, it's not filled out properly, isn't mailed before the cutoff date, etc...

The offline stores like CompUSA, Staples, etc., who also do free items after rebates, do so not only as loss leaders to attract traffic to their stores, but they often actually make some money on those items.

Every loyalty point system out there heavily depends on "breakage" to increase profits. Also, pre-paid calling cards use breakage to get healthy margins - some people lose their cards, others don't use 100% of the card, etc...

I'm with Ravia on this, "breakage" is where it's at. Not the "float".

Seems like every 2 weeks this thread comes up. Think what you want of their offerings and if you wish to participate or not. But please think things through before you judge the deal. Example, every time somebody, without thinking it through, says something to effect of "they must make their money off of the interest from holding your money".

Let's assume these guys are financial wizards and can earn 12% annual interest on the money they get from you. On a $100 item this means they'll earn $4 if they keep your money for 4 months. It costs a busines about $3.50 to process a check and they'll pay Visa or Mastercard about $2 for the charge. Right there they're already not making any prfit off the interest.

They also have to pack and ship the item. They also need to process the rebate. Then there are the marketing and advertising costs. Not to mention the office space and paper clips. Oh, almost forgot the cost of the item.

I doubt their business model depends on the interest they make from the float. Most likely they depend on a certain percentage of people not sending in for the rebate. But I could be wrong.

As far as them denying rebate because of improperly filled out forms. Twice I messed up a form. Both times they sent me snail mail alerting me to my errors and allowed me to correct them. I received both rebates. And I've never filled out or returned their "survey".

My only concern is them going belly-up while my rebate is in process.

That is my big concern as well. I don't think I will ever take advantage of these deals.

"Cyberrebates makes money on the float. They charge 2-5X the actual price of an item and get an interest free load until the rebate is paid."

Like a few people said - they can 'not' be making much money from interest.

1) Order $10 item for $110
2) Get $10 item
2) Lose 3 months of interest @ 12%/year on $110 ... = $3.30
3) Make $5.50 through 'Dash'
4) Receive $110 Rebate
5) Crappy $10 item is free and you 'made' $2.20

Unless they are making absurdly high interest rates, there is no way that they are profiting much from your fully-rebated purchase.

If they stay in business long enough to send you your rebate is a totally different story!!

Where are you guys getting the ridiculous figure of 12% interest? Credit cards charge as much as 28%. There is no legal limit to what you can charge on a business loan, and you can charge points on top of that. There are lot of ways to make money on money that are incredibly profitable. I've gotten back $2000.00 so far, and I have another $2000.00 in process. The site has been there for a couple years and continues to grow.

Even if it's a pyramid, it will be around a long time, unless, of course the banks close if the stock market crashes, in which case you can kiss your money goodbye anyway, only the big depositers will get their money back.

Oh no, not Cyberrebate again! Ok, I've done their deals before and who knows how long they will be around. If they make it through the next six months they will probably be around till at least next Xmas. And I never filled out the survey form.

They are quoting a high interest rate to show how little money they would make even with 12%, not saying how much the credit card is charging.

When do you think the keyword CyberRebate will start automatically lock the thread?

I bought from CyberRebate once.

A 2Lb breadmaker and an International Power kit from Emerson.I sent the Emerson one in almost immediately, and the Breadmaker in almost near the "break". When I got a check, I thought it was going to be for the Power kit, but it turned out to be the Breadmaker (Yippee, $185). I still haven't seen the rebate(In progress) for the Power Kit.

For a Breadmaker costing $200, and $185 back, I'll bite.

For a Ethernet card I can pick up for $10 elsewhere that they charge $180 for, NFW. I don't need that kind of headache.

I'm surprised they're still in business, which means something in their business model is working, be it the float, or the break, or kick backs from manufacturing, or buying out some companies excess stock @ pennies on the dollar.

The only way I'm buying from them again is if I won't kick myself if the rebate doesn't come through or they go belly up.

Seattle - Right now I think a lot of people would be happy to make 12%.
I know I would!
CyberRebate is not a Credit Card company, and if they are making business loans at more than 28% could you tell me where to get in on this? I have some stocks that aren't doing quite as well as that.

I have ordered several 100% rebate items from them.
Got some rebates, still waiting for a few.
I hope you get all your rebates back. $2000 is a lot of money.

Eliminating {b}..{/b} should fix the bold problem.
