Am I high maitenance? I was taught in customer service (been doing it for 12 years +) that you always treat the customer with respect, and always make true on your promises. CW doesn't know how to do that, which is why I made noise. But apparently they can do this because few customers have enough self-respect to demand the treatment they deserve when they hand over their money.

Wyvrn - Maybe after being customer service so long, you might agree that customers can sometimes be a little stinky. I've had the displeasure of being in customer service myself and was always simply dumb founded at how stupid and inconsiderate some of the "valued customers" can be. I tend to classify myself on the "oh whatever" side of things so it takes me quite a bit to get irritated by people. When I do get irritated it's usually just because somthing about the perpetrator that just rubs me the wrong way. They come in blasting and throwing out any sort of empathy for what the service provider might be going through. Sure, service should be perfect in all cases but sometimes this expectation just isn't realistic. It's a new world out there with far too many nasty things happening not to be nice to your fellow man...be considerate at all costs!

Now, knowing the GREAT service I and many others have gotten from Shawn and the group at CW, I might suspect this might apply in your case. Whenever I ran across somebody being stinky, I made it my mission to let them know that all this trouble would have been more pleasantly resolved if they would have just been nice. They chose to be nasty so thy get the nasty treatment. No exceptions, no special treatment, no priority and easy fixes! Because good serivce is more of an attitude, it's never really that hard to provide - just choose to give good service. When somebody comes in with an attitude, instead of all the simple little things that I could have done to make them feel a bit more welcome, I'd pull out all the stops and let them fight for any level of service...until they chose to change their smelly ways.

Be honest with yourself here and ask yourself how YOU did you come across to CW. If you were sincerely nice in your inquiries then fine, maybe the guy was just having a bad day. But if you came in blasting then you got what you deserve! We're dealing with a $4 year of web hosing here that has been wildly popular with many many many people. Repeat...it's 4 bucks! Can you see how after a couple of months of this promotion that the good fellas setting up accounts would have a relatively short wick for those that don't cut them a little slack...fo god sakes grow up! Be nice! And remember it's always true that what goes around, will come around!

Does anyone know which date they are working on now? I put in an order on 4/26 and want to see how long it's going to take.

wyvrn, CW did a very poor job of updating their website for these "sales." Instead of replacing terms of setup, they kind of just tacked on as they went, so thats how you get the old click here and setup is 3 days, click here and setup is seven days, etc. Their track record with the first "half price sale" was about 2+ weeks. But I do distinctly remember them saying that all accounts signed up for in the "final sale" definitely would not be set up before the beginning of May. But they did not update their sign up page with any of that info, you had to click on the "CW getting out of individual hosting" link to see the new setup terms.

I'm sorry you were not aware of it. Anyone following this and the other CW threads were well aware that set up times were monstrous, especially for this final sale. If you can hang in there, I think you'll be pleased with the outcome.

Since you work in CS you know that sometimes the planets align, and the person you're speaking to may be having a bad day, and you may be having a bad day and BOOM! And just think how many times they're getting the "where's my website?" question. (Thinking of the Bart and Lisa in the backseat asking "are we there yet?" continuosly for 2 hours.) Would that set you off a bit? IMHO though, they created that situation for themselve by not updating the proper pages.

I've spoken to someone in chat, and i've submitted a trouble ticket and both times had no issues, and timely responses. Hang in there!

I will stop complaining. You guys are on their side because you get next to free hosting, and couldn't care less if CW treated you like crap. I can see reason and honesty don't apply in Hot Deals.

I think they are up to April 20th...that is if you set your account up on April 20th then they should be working on it (but I don't know if they work weekends)
Either way, today is the 11th...I asked and I set mine up on the 26th, they said if they are working the 20th, just add a day from now for every day after that 20th. Is that understandable?

So they are working on the 20th, i set mine on the 26, 6 days difference, so 6 days from now mine should be set up.

They're up to the 22nd. So they claim, and it would seem to be true, as 2 accounts for which I requested activation on the 22nd were set up late this morning.

I actually paid for the accounts, via PayPal, back on the 18th, but at the time I didn't have any domains I wanted hosted. I obtained the domains a few days later, and placed my activation order for the already paid accounts on the 22nd. I mention this, as some people may not be clear on the fact that one's order date is the date on which one places the order, complete with domain name. And not merely the date on which one paid. Although, of course, in many cases these dates will be the same.

Updates as to which dates' orders are being activated are easy to find. They're usually the channel topic, at the Cyberwings chat channel. (Try using backpack.webmaster.com as the IRC server, and #cyberwings as the channel name.) Cyberwings' CEO, Shawn, was on the channel while I was there this morning. He's on the channel fairly often, should you wish to speak with him, and prefer to use an alternative to email.

These are my 2nd and 3rd domains hosted by Cyberwings. (They are time4email.com and hyper.global.mega.corp.com , should you be interested.) Cyberwings has been hosting my first domain for over a month now. I have no complaints.

Ok I got my email saying I'm ready to go and I bought the Domain from Cyberwings as well.

What do I need to do first?

How do I set up my webmail?

Quote "Please be sure to change your Primary & Secondary DNS Servers to:

Primary: ns9.groupns.com
Secondary: ns10.groupns.com

Using your PLESK Control Panel, you will be able to add users,
databases,
change your hosting type, add/remove password protected directories, and
more!

Please note, you will NOT be able to access your server until you change
your primary and secondary DNS servers with your registrar. Please
contact
the people you REGISTERED your domain with and ask them to change your
primary/secondary DNS servers to the ones listed above.""End Quote

Cyberwings is where I registered so Do I need to contact them again? I was trying to make this easy as possible since I know nothing about webpages.

thanks in advance

EXman - If you bought your domain name through Cyberwings, you should be able to access your account at http://www.cyberwingdomains.com

For future reference, you can check out a huge "How-To" webpage (http://www.cyberwingers.net) designed with FAQ's in mind by several folks on the CyberWings IRC support channel. Speaking of which: did you know that you can go to CyberWings' website and click on "Talk to Us Live" in order to get some of your questions answered? That link will take you to a Java-based IRC chat client and will directly connect you to the Cyberwings support channel! One word of warning: Please be sure to enter a "proper" nickname as it's very difficult for the folks on the channel to respond to questions from the randomly-assigned "GuestXXXXX" nicknames. ("XXXXX" is a seemingly random number).

Good luck!

Anyone have an Extra Plan 5 they want to sell - I didn't have the money when the sale took place, and do now, but not on sale any more.

Are you serious! You didn't have a spare $3.90 during the 2 months that this price was offered.

I was wondering the same thing. Even if I were buying a house I think I could spare $5 for a an awesome year of hosting.

My order of 3 p1 plans from 4/19 was just setup. Almost 1 month setup time, but the price can't be beat.

Was just curious if anyone bought an extra one of these and could bear to part with it. I was quite happy with my webhost when this deal oing on, and now I'm in need of a new home (space issues, no response to my emails or service tickets). Hindsight being ing 20/20, I should have signed up for this, but didn't. Can anyone help a sister out?

Thanks,
Yelley

Please does anyone have a Plan 5 account they are not using and willing to sell? I'm getting married and I sure could use some inexpensive web hosting.

Glad to be of service! CW seems like a great place to host at.. now if they can just get my accounts set up, I'll be quite thrilled with things.
