O.K. Just so I have this straight...

I "ordered" 2 plan 5's on tuesday the 23rd. I got an order confirmation number via email in about 5 minutes. I don't have any domains registered yet.
Is there anything else I have to do to reserve my server space at this price?
Their website says:

<< PRE-ORDERS: You ARE allowed to pre-order accounts right now during this sale and use them for future use. Just make your payment either via PayPal or 2checkout.com and SAVE your payment confirmation # (order #). Then when you are ready, we will provide you with a special order form to complete in order to get your hosting account setup in the future. You do NOT have to have a domain for your accounts right now, but you will need one at the time you choose to have your hosting started. Your HOSTING will not be added to our BILLING system until the date when you ask to have your HOSTING setup. So your "1 year" does not start until it's setup. >>

My question is, do I have to notify them when I'm ready and use their "special" order form, or can I just go to the form that one is sent to after the order process is complete. (probably not too clear, but if you have ordered from them you were redirected to the set up form, this is the form I'm talking about)

Just getting a little nervous....don't want to mess this up because this is truly a HOT deal!

Thanks

P.s. And yes I did read the rest of the thread, I just got a little bleary eyed and may have missed the answer to this query.

I think I understand the jist of your query since I'm in the same boat as you, I signed up for hosting plans but have no domains yet. So we're essentially "pre-ordering" hosting plans for domains we will register in the future, right?

Somewhere I read it made it very clear that even though you do not have a domain to host yet you have to complete their form immediately just leave the domain information on the bottom of the form blank. They will request your PayPal/cc confirmation # which you need to copy/paste into the form. If you do not complete and submit the form, I think CyberWings will have your PayPal sitting in their account and your hosting plans will not be setup? I could be wrong but this is how I think it works.

The form in question.

Another question then. I don't have the domain now but will register one in future. Since I didn't pay by Paypal but by a credit card, do I still have to fill out the account setup form (the form we were redirected to)? I simply didn't fill out the forum coz on their website it clearly said, "......Just make your payment either via PayPal or 2checkout.com and SAVE your payment confirmation # (order #). ......" I thought all they want is the payment confirmation# when you are ready to have them set up the hosting for you. Then they will require you to fill out a "special" order form in order to activate your account. Just my 0.02.

Ok so after paying with paypal, I have to also complete that form even if all my domains are not ready yet?

Looks like it. Here's what they say on the form:

"All hosting accounts require a domain name in order to be activated. You can register your domain name at ANY qualified domain registrar on the Internet or you can use our domain registration service that we offer (see menu to the left for a link). We are no longer providing subdomains @cyberwings.com for hosting accounts. Please be sure your domain name is registered before you signup for hosting with us."

So, make sure you have the domain stuff sorted out, then order and fill out their forms.

I dunno, it looks like the sale is still good, and $3.90 a YEAR is a great price. I'm really thinking about jumping on this. I'd have to get the domain first...but still. Anyone actually have their sites set up?

Exactly.

As much as I like these guys, they could have been a little more clear about this.

Their original webpage said that you needed a domain in order to sign up for a hosting package. Instead of removing that paragraph for this final sale, they just added one above it saying you DIDN'T need a domain, but left the old paragraph in there creating confusion.

I bought a hosting package last month, for which I had a domain. After I purchased the package, I filled out the account setup form.

I bought two additional accounts for this final sale for which I DON'T have domain names. My plan is when I am ready to activate them, I will send them an email, and I think at that point, they'll give me a setup form to fill in.

Then when you are ready, we will provide you with a special order form to complete in order to get your hosting account setup in the future. You do NOT have to have a domain for your accounts right now, but you will need one at the time you choose to have your hosting started.

<< Yes, you get the full www.yourdomain.com. They do not offer subdomains under cyberwings. But you don't get your own IP address. >>

But when I just got this confirmation e-mail and I followed the link to activate my accounts it said this:

All hosting accounts require a domain name in order to be activated. You can register your domain name at ANY qualified domain registrar on the Internet or you can use our domain registration service that we offer (see menu to the left for a link). We are no longer providing subdomains @cyberwings.com for hosting accounts. Please be sure your domain name is registered before you signup for hosting with us. Thank you!

I bought five Plan 5 with AE card. I used private payment just to be on the safe side. The price is so incredibly low that I doubt they can make money and still be in business in one year. I hope they don't get our money and run. I smell something when they run these incredible promotions to attract people to sign up. At worst, I will be out $20, which is no big deal to me.

You don't get a domain name with that price...that's just hosting for your site. You have to buy your actual domain name separately, either through them, GoDaddy, or any other registrar. When you get the domain name, you tell them what it is, then they'll give you DNS servers. You take those DNS servers, go back to your registrar, and tell them what they are. Then, once everything is sorted out, when someone goes to www.yourdomain.com, it will go to your hosting at Cyberwings.

I had signed up for 5 cyberwings accounts. But I just heard of Data packet and it looks like a very good plan ($10 per year with 500MB of web space, ASP.NET, etc...).

What do you guys think ?

Sorry cashman, I misunderstood your question. I thought you were asking if you could use the full www.yourdomain.com vs. yourdomain.cyberwings.com. As mthrboard stated, you still have to register your domain separately at whatever price you can find it, and then come back and tell cyberwings.

But you can't beat a year of hosting for what amounts to pocket change

The price is good but checking webhostingtalk.com forums shows nothing but bad things about them.

Hey did anyone order more than 4 accounts? Well you know how you have to activate them and put the domain name in? Why is there only 2 accounts to be activated?

Wouldn't you think all the 1000 accounts should be gone by now? Just a little fishy. But then again, most people will only be out $10-$20 even if it's a scam.

I believe if you just want to pre-order an account, you send them the money. You then need to save your Order #/Transaction ID. When you have a domain, and want them to set-up your account you fill in the Order Form in its entirety including a domain name that you have registered. Your one year will start from then.

For those of you who pre-ordered (and did not fill out the order form) via PayPal during this last sale, did you get any e-mail from Cyberwings?

The order form allows you to request two at a time. You just need to fill it out again until you have requested all of your accounts to be setup.

This amazes me. You think they might be out of business in less than a year and that they may take your money and run. Then you give them $20? Can I have $20?

If you would like to talk to their reps, go to their live chat on their site. They told me to expect my confirmation letter on may 3rd or so.

Long setup aside most news about Cyberwings are good. I took the plunge and dramaticaly reduced my hosting cost per year! So far so good and everything seems to be working well. You can take a lookt at either of two domains I have hosted with them and check performance:
My Personal Homepage
My Vent, Rant and Toy Page

I love the webmail feature!

Looking at their upgrades page, they say that you have to pay $15 to transfer a domain. Does that mean if I want to use a different domain name, I have to pay $15? Do other hosts do this?

Also, people keep saying that they are buying 3,4,5 hosting plans at a time. Do you need a seperate domain name for each one?
