Hmm, this kinda reminds me of the View-Master Virtual Reality except that one don't have a head strap.
I guess for the price, it is a good deal, and better than google cardboard.

Sale price is still there. I just checked. $22.99 (sale price) - $11.00 from the promo code makes it $11.99. It's likely junk but for for that price, could be useful for viewing 3D videos with a good phone.

For what it is worth, friend got his unit in today, and he said build quality is actually pretty good.
He tried the google cardboard demo app on his android, and the only thing he can't figure out is, how do you select something on screen?
He also tried a few 3D vids, and those worked pretty well, so viewing 3D is fine.
