I'll answer this because I see a lot of people unsure what they want to do because they don't know what their options are.

As far as Drug or Humaitarian projects go there are:

United Devices - Cancer research
Community TSC - Cures for childhood deseases
Entropia - Find a cure for AIDS I think?
Find-A-Dug - Looks for better drugs to treat or cure several deseases including HIV and cancer
Distributed Folding - Understand the way proteins fold (could help in many aspects of health and understanding the body)
Folding@Home - Similar enough to Distributed Folding that I don't know the difference in goals
Genome@Home - Attempt to better understand the human genome

Differences between Distributed Folding and Folding@Home:

Folding@Home is trying to discover HOW proteins fold, that is they simulate protein folding in as accurate a way as possible. One of the few DC projects to get a lot of acclaim (article in Nature) for science performed.

Distributed Folding is trying to predict what a protein will look like when folded, and does not try to handle how exactly it gets that way. This can be done much faster than actually simulating the folding but is probably also less accurate.
