D&D Daggerdale: XBLA/PSN co-op action RPG

I had never heard of this game until I stumbled across a reference today, but it's now rumored to be slated for May 24th on XBLA and PSN. Comparisons are being made to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, an original Xbox game that I had a lot of fun playing co-op with my wife, so I'd love to see another title like that.

Cool, I had a great time with the wife on Baldur's Gate on the PS2, also Dungeon Seige III is looking like a good co-op. Co-op is one area the latest generation has been really lacking imo, I'd be happy to see some good co-op (on the same console, not online) games.

Only one week from release and I still haven't heard much buzz about this game. I'm always interested in co-op stuff like Lara Croft: GoL (which is fun). Here's a trailer and a G4 preview.

Baldur's Gate: DA was one of my favorite co-op experiences ever. I'm looking forward to Daggerdale, especially since it's the first video game to use the 4th edition rules AFAIK.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much hype for this game, so we'll see. I'm also a bit disappointed that there is no character creation, which just seems so wrong for a D&D game. (Then again, Dark Alliance didn't have it either)

This sounds fun. I been playing pocket legends on my Ipod touch and this sound like it is similar.

yeah that did look a bit boring. Dungeon crawlers are a weird genre. . . when they're done right, they are as addictive as crack cocaine (not that I would know or anything). When they're done poorly, it can be the most soulless, formulaic, empty gaming experience there is.

I'm not getting my hopes up too high for Daggerdale. . . but I would love to be pleasantly surprised.

Yeah honestly that review sounds about right Daggerdale has to be one of the most uninspired dungeon crawlers I have played. I don't get why they bothered making this game at all, or why they bothered with the D&D license. It's just another "run around in a mine and smash barrels" game.

Played about 30 minutes yesterday (that's about all I could squeeze in with a newborn), so this is a first impressions kind of thing:

- There is some overall jank. Texture pop-in is abruptly noticeable at times, has some of the worst tearing I've seen in ages, the animations for some of the characters can be awkward and some of the models are some PS2 level stuff.

- There is loot! It appears to pop out of barrels and drop from enemies--you know traditional dungeon crawler fare--but, I like that when you highlight it the items the stats are immediately presented to you. It's a nice touch

- There is no jumping. One of my pet peeves. Every game should have a jumping mechanic, even if it's totally out of place. Hell, even racing games should have jumping.

- I adore Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and hoped this would be a nice follow up--and I think it's actually kinda fun so far--but it's not what I was hoping for.

- This game (to me) is worth closer to $10 and not $15.

Fingers crossed for Dungeon Siege 3. Between what I saw of the game at E3 and the recent Giant Bomb quick look, it still looks like our best shot.

I finished it the other night. After the credits there's about 5 seconds of a picture of some creature holding a revolver in a post-apocalyptic urban area next to a sign that has Gamma Terra scrawled on it. My guess is referencing a Gamma World game.

I enjoyed the game, even with the bugs. I have been in a mindless button mash mood, and this game fit the bill. I played through as a cleric and am going through a second time as a wizard. So far the cleric is definitely better.
