Great for you guys who missed the black Friday deal (like me). You need to be near a Fry's for this work.

Best Buy's Sunday AD have D-Link 614+ Wireless router with 4 switch for $119 - $20 BB Rebate and $30 D-Link rebate, end up to be $69. Price match with Fry's Friday insert for $99, minus 110% price match bonus.

$69- $22 = $47

Better hurrry since Fry's ad expires on Tuesday.

I found it's much eaiser to buy first then go price match later. I did this and Microsoft Blue optical mouse for $4 (after price match with Staples) with no problems.

Remeber this is the best out there with 22 mbps (6-7 MB throughput), combine this with the $15 Dlink Airplus notebook wireless PC card you guys from Amazon a while back, killer setup for 62 bucks.

Not to threadcap, but this is a TERRIBLE product. I bought it about a month ago at OfficeMax when they had a nice deal. It randomly reboots, drops wireless connections every 5 minutes or so, and has terrible range. I tried 6 different firmware versions, including the one which came out about a week ago. After that latest version didn't fix the problems I returned the damn thing to OfficeMax and bought a NetGear from Staples. That one has worked flawlessly!

You must have receive a defective unit. I have had no problems at all, however I did make sure I was running the latest firmware and the lastest drivers for my DWL-650+ adapter. New firmware to be out this month should increase capacity above 22 if you have a d-link network card. The only problem I have had is with my Checkpoint VPN client. With all firewall features turned off, it still won't work through this unit. I must be missing a setting somewhere.

How does this compare to the SMC 7004AWBR?

My one and only major gripe about the SMC is that it requires resetting (unplug for 5 seconds then plug it back in probably due to overheating although it's WELL ventilated and in the coolest room in the house - the basement) a few times a week, sometimes daily.

Which netgear router? I see two wireless ones in stores. The one that looks like a blue box, and the one that looks really sleek.

does anyone else thing this deal will pan out?

Best Buy's Sunday AD have D-Link 614+ Wireless router with 4 switch for $119 - $20 BB Rebate and $30 D-Link rebate, end up to be $69. Price match with Fry's Friday insert for $99, minus 110% price match bonus.

we're asking Fry's to PM Bestbuy with the price AFTER rebate...
i'd think that they'd PM the BB price BEFORE the rebate which is $119 which equals no PM.

what do u think?

I just wanted to chime in that I love this unit. No problems at all. Got it at the BB Black Friday Sale. I did update to the latest firmware etc before I installed it.

hey.. im not the only guy... with the d-link problems.. pretty much others on news groups.

when you play diablo the ping time triples to over 600ms.. i tried firmware from 2.01 to 2.10 (current). once you reboot or exit diablo, the ping goes down to normal. similar effect from counterstrike. my wireless held but not well. I swap this router out with SMC and it work fine w/o problems. Processor might not be efficent in handling diablo packets or data type.. whatever format/size it might be

The first generation smc are the best.. I have 3 of those.. 1 died and was replaced with the current 8port smc. That one has dhcp problems.

Pretty much half the people in reviews have bashed this router for dropping signals and needing a reboot. I can't find Friday's Fry's ad for $99 on this router but I do see the NetGear 814 for $99 - $20 rebate. CC is selling for $129 - $50 rebateS. Will CC pricematch down to $99?

I've had this router for almost a year no and I have had NO PROBLEMS at all. I am running firmware 2.03 and I did not have any problems with previous firmwares. IMHO, there is nothing wrong with this router. I get good-excellent reception throughout my house.

What city is the Fry's ad for? I can't seem to find it in Southern California. Has anyone else in southern california had any luck?

Okay, I need to clarify couple things.

- You pricematch Fry's Ad for $99 at Best Buy, not the other way around.
- Fry's Ad appears on Friday's Oregon newpaper insert, so could be just Oregon, sorry about that. Anyone give me an e-mail and I can send scan.
- Yes, I did try this and got the deal, as well as the $4 Microsoft blue optical mouse.
- The router is rock solid and I get 22 mbps, I transfered 150 MB file in about 4 minutes. Signal strength is 56% even upstairs compare to Linksys's 12% that my friend has. People who are having trouble, are you using DLINK's PC card, like Airplus 650+?

Man do I wish this was out already. Firmware is going to be for the entire 802.11b+ line of AirPlus products. I've been running this router since the beginning of August and have had no problems with it at all. Very good setup wizard and tons of features. My laptop has the DWL-650+ card and the range and speed is outstanding. My Aunt's system with Linksys WUSB11 V2.6 has great speed and signal. Very highly recommended.

Check out SMC's website. When you go to "download -> updated firmware" for the 7004 AWBR, it asks which revision you have and has some simple instructions to find out. I have had mine for over a year working great.

Now I'm looking for another wireless access point for the other end of the house (which has a huge stone wall blocking the signal). This D-Link may do the trick.

Just thought I'd chime in and say that I have 2 of the DI-614+ wireless routers and both work perfectly. I don't do online gaming so I dunno about the slow down problem mentioned above.
I have compared the range with a Cisco wireless access point that I had set for a full 100mW and the range was the same.

bought mine on the black friday deal too. if i wrote a review prior to this week then id say this thing is top notch. great signal and range compared to my old linksys router and 22mbps is pretty cool. We have 2 dlink 650+ cards to keep things consistant.

BUT.... now that we got 2 laptops ($400 BB laptop deal and $800 OD Sotec deal) then we have been dropping signals alot. It seems to be when one laptop is hibernating and the other is in use. Turn on the hibernating laptop and when it grabs the signal it freezes up everything until router is reboot, or it loses its signal and you need to manually connect again.

Anyway, i do recommend this over the Linksys and SMC wireless routers i had previously.

fry's had the Netgear for $99 - $30(I think) rebate but ended today.

I went to CC to try and PM, and they would only take off $10, so I'd end up with $120 out of pocket first. I told the sales rep that I'd be paying more after taxes overall and stuff but they wouldn't budge. Anywho, I picked up the Netgear at BB for $109 - $30 rebate. The D-link is going for $119 - $50 rebates. But I'm iffy on using the D-link since my Thinkpad T30 comes with a built-in Cisco card rather than a D-link card.
