There is 1 left at the Woodland Hills, Ca CC (there were 2, he he he). They price matched at 59.99 (YMMV) so with the $50 rebate I am happy. Thanks everyone.

OMG !!! Someone call the cyber-paramedics. DJDeepen's about to stroke out. I think we need to call the janitor for a cleanup on the D-Link aisle, too.

Well I'm confused at what I should do now....

I got the last one at mylocal CC (Skokie, IL) .... then I proceeded to OM to see if they'd let me buy the $89.99 AP for $59.99.
Being the moron that I am, I forgot the printed out ads I had at home. I was too lazy to go back home and pick them up so I just went in to OM to see if they'd sell me if I brought in the ads.
The lady called up her manager and explained that I had ads that said this was $59.99, but her manager refused to sell me it
So now, should I:
a) PM to 89.99
b) Wait and see if the sales occur ($59.99)
or
c) return it

Well almost scored one but one of my friends got pissed off and returned my unit (Daly City, CA IIRC) as they wouldn't pricematch it. Then he went to the San Francisco CC and pricematched his own which the CSRs gave him no problems.

I'm about to cry.

I know everyone is excited about the AP but are you also aware that you can get the PCI Wireless for $42 shipped!

How?

(1) Call up office max and say "i want this card but your online site lists it at $99.99 and the ad (listed in the first post) says it's $49.99 at the store

(2) Add something for a few pennies like paper clips to bring it to $50 for free S&H

(3) Then email her a copy of the Staples $10 off $40 coupon in the staples thread.

So with tax and small item you get it shipped for $42, which is pretty decent considering it's hard to get the pci wireless cards for <$50

If I were you, I'd buy it and wait to see if the ad appears next week or the week after. You have 30 days to price match. If the ad doesn't appear in your area, just return it for a refund.

harleysleep,

First I called the Fairlawn store to check if it was in stock. When I got there it wasn?t on the self, they had to get it from the back. So I don?t know for sure if they have more but I think they do.

This is what I took with me to the store. I took a color printout of the add from one of the links provided in the other messages (I used the Chico, California add). This printed out as two pages with the first page just having the title bar and the text ?In-Store Specials? (this is important). The second page was the main add showing the price AND the OM model number (2016-4162). Also at this page is a link (print our list) that prints out all the OM In-Store specials. Print out that list because it also shows the DWL-900AP as an In-Store special with an instant rebate of $30.

At the OM web site, I searched for ?d link wireless access point? and the page displayed ?Item # 20164162, Style # DWL-900AP?. Take this printout with you because it proves that the OM part number is the D-Link DWL-900AP.

The CC manager called the local OM to verify that they had it in stock (they did) and what was the price ($89.99). All the pages I showed him verified that this was an in-store special of $89.99 ? instant rebate of $30 for a total of $59.99. Then he gave me the 10% of the difference price adjustment ($12) which took it down to $48 plus tax. The $50 rebate form printed out at the register and the CSR printed me an extra receipt to use with the rebate. Good luck!

first off, comments stay on CC receipts unless someone takes them off
reprinting the receipt will still have the comment
since its a CC rebate, they dont really look at the receipt. they just make sure the item is on there
the PM doesnt matter.
However, CC is supposed to match bottom line and include the rebate in the price match.
so they are supposed to pricematch the 59.99 with the rebate so u pay 109.99 then have the 50$ MIR
thats how the smart managers are supposed to do it....
but oh well, its a big loss, and i kno my ops manager sent an email to the District manager to look into it....
i think theyre schocked too :Q

This rebate goes directly to D-Link in Mesa, AZ. I called the number on the rebate form (800-279-4784) and it was to the "D-Link Rebate Center". Since it goes to D-Link and not Circuit City, I don't think they care about price matching or comments on the receipt.

Yes I did Both me and a friend did it. Your right the paper doesn't have the OM ad yet, but will probbably next week. But I'm impatient and did it now. I PMed it from a printout of the sales ad from Waco. Store off the North Dallas Tollway (near the Galleria) gave me all kinds of greif but eventually PMed it. Then we went to the store next to Vista Ridge Mall (we didn't want to look too suspcious and do both at the same store) and that guy PMed it no questions asked took 3 mins. Of course depends on your CSR but we didn't have any big problems. Of course we both purchased at full price then PMed down so they don't know about the rebate.

Thanks ai42, I will hopefully get in on this deal tomorrow

Normally PCI would be a better choice if you have the choice between USB and PCI.
However sine wireless 802.11b (WiFi) only has speeds UP TO 11 Mbps (the bandwith of usb), it really doesn't matter in this case.

So it's a matter of physical locations, do you want something inside your pc or do you want something sitting out attach to it with yet another wire. For me, the choice is obvious, but if you have your computer perhaps in a bad area, maybe the usb wireless is a better choice because it will give you more freedom in positioning it.

pci or usb?
personally i prefer usb in this situation as its much more portable. just disconnect the wire and bring it with you where you are going, plug it into that comp while its still on and boom instant wireless. pci requires opening the machine up etc, kind of a hassle.

also, i've read that the usb wireless have better range/signal as you are moving the antenna out of the electrically noisy environment inside the computer. and you can position the usb antenna where ever your signal is best, whereas you are stuck with the location of the pci antenna (unless you mod the card to accept external antennas, unsure if this card can be modded like some others).

Ahhhh, I drove 45 min to CC and came home empty handed. I already bought the thing for $60 from OM, I brought my receipt in, showed it to the guys, they called up the neihgboring OM, and they say they dont have them in stock. They also say that since they dont have them in stock, they cant price match. Is this true? I bet the guy was just giving me BS because he didn't want to PM. Next time I'm going to call OM, check to see if they are in stock myself, then go to CC. This deal ends Saturday, right? :|

That's not how I understand this based on my CC experience yesterday; I think you get 100% when competition is out of stock and 110% when in stock.

I went to OM to pickup the item ticket for their everyday price on the DI-713P which was $99.99 to PM at CC ($199.99 before $30MIR). When I went to CC next, and had the store manager verify (model#, cost vs price, weight, pulse, etc.) that CC's router was exactly the same as OM's router. He was stupified at the price difference and told the sales clerk to go ahead. After the initial checkout, it came out that I only got a 100% PM. I asked why not 110%; mgr responded (w/ his assumption) that OM is out of stock, that's why. I said to him (he never left my sight during the PM) how do you know; he responded then why don't I buy it there? I said that's not the point is it (even though OM did have it stock and the small fact that CC had a MIR) and said why don't you check it out. He wanted to rip my head off; but he came back to the register to allow the additional 10%.
