I was just reading abt the D-Link access point and in order to connect your wireless network to a cable/dsl modem you need a cable/dsl router. As you can get wireless cable/dsl router for $30 then there is no need to buy a seperate access point...:Q Let me know if there is some otherway of using D-Link access point to share the internet connection without using the cable/dsl router

I have cable and have 2 extra IP's that I am charged for, (all get the same speed, the signal isn't split between the three)....I use a switch and have my 2 pc's hooked to it and my AP plugged into my switch also, which makes my laptop wireless.....that is the way mine is set up....but if you don't have extra IP from you provider then, yes, you will need a router if you want more than one pc hooked up.....that is why they make the combo router/AP now.....easier to configure and less equipment.

How / where do you get Wireless router for $30 ? I want one if it has multiple RJ45 ports too.

Access point is useful if you have a wired router / hub and want to wirelessly connect your Laptop (or in my case @migo pocket pc) to that router. Next week BestBuy has D-Link 614+ wireless router for $99 (after MIR), which is a good price.

They were out of stock in Madison, WI too. The sales guy looked in the computer and they weren't getting any for at least 2 weeks. Good luck getting in on this deal.

Scored me one in dallas, figured I would print it out and see if they would PM now, but no go oh well looks like CC will see me sunday.

Interesting cause I got mine tonight... the sales guy tried to hide the rebate when it was printing out, after he handed me the receipt. I already had one from the website printed out, but he gave it to me anyways and "SHHHHHHHHHHH'd" me... ROFL

WTH!!! The D-Link PCI Wireless PCI Adapter doesn't show up in the printable list that you need to present at the store.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Does it show up for NE1 else when you lick the "Printable List" button? It should be on page 8 with the other two wireless components but it doesn't show up for me

I picked up 2 of these and have a couple questions. Do I have to go to the same store where they were purchased to get the price match, or can I go to any store? When they price match, does that include the tax, too? I pm'ed a Tivo awhile back and kind seems like they did.

Thanks

I think I messed-up my deal here. I showed the guy at CC a scan of the OM sale and he PMed it on the spot so I got it for $65.49 w/tax. I also got the rebate printout and I've sent it in. My question is can I go back tomorrow and get the 10% that I'm missing on the 110% price match? This unit was the last one in the store and none in the back, I asked.

I got it. What an ordeal though. I kid you not, I walked out of the store with 8 receipts. I bought it online for instore pickup. I go to pick it up with a printout of the website to PM. The CRS calls the local OfficeMax to verify. She does a lot of typing to do the PM and then tells me to come behind the counter to sign the receipt. I do. She then tells me she price matched to $89.99 and since there is a rebate, that's why OM has it for $59.99. I point out that there isn't a rebate from OM. She then grabs the printout and receipts and says she has to check with the manager. While I wait I get all cheesed off that she asked me to sign the receipt before telling me they weren't going to PM to the $59.99 price. I'm pissed at her for not telling me, I'm pissed at me for not asking. After like 10 minutes she comes back with a printout saying the OM price is $169.99. I point out that that's the phone or online price and that the in store special is $59.99. We walk over to the web terminal so that I can show it to her. On the way I tell her I'm pissed that she didn't tell me that they weren't going to PM to $59.99 but instead to $89.99 before she asked me to sign. She looks embarass. I feel bad.

At the terminal I show her the in store sale pages. She clicks through the all, makes a bunch of printouts I walks over to a cash register. She says she's going to give me the difference down to $59.99. So she takes off another $30. I then say that's not right. It should be 110% off of a difference of $179.99 - $59.99 = $120. Which is $132. $179.99 - $132 = $47.99. She says that it's all automatic so that the price should be $59.99. I point out that because the reduction was done in so many steps, it's not right. I think I embarass her again because she can't do the math. She ends up cancelling everything and redoing it from scratch. This time PM from $179.99 to $59.99 with a 110% PM. It comes out to be $47.99. At least she handed me the rebate form and didn't try to hide it. I still feel bad about telling her I'm pissed off for that first run around in earshot of the other CSRs. I thank her and apologize for being I jerk. She turns red again.

What an ordeal.

thanks for letting me vent,
David
