Did you point out to them on the website it explicitly says "In-Store Special. Not valid by phone or at www.officemax.com". Or something like that.

For those getting hasseled over the product model or #, log on to the OM page here
select a state and click on a location that has the 59.99 price. Just above the ads, there is a link to print a list of the offers. If you do this it has the model # and upc # of the d-link ap.

Yep, I did. Some other guy in the store said I could do it, but then the store manager got involved and didn't let me. I'm going to try a different circuit city tomorrow. A reciept would still be kind of nice to show them though.

How are people getting the $59.99 price? My local OM told me it's 89.99.

If you check out the full listing of the In-Store specials right above when you see the ad pages, if you go down to the DWL-900AP it says $30 instant rebate. If CC needs to call and verify you might want to bring a printout of that page.

Anyway I socred me a good pricematch (purchased at full price Saturday), here in Dallas. And the Dallas ad dosen't even have it (but will probbably have it next week, but I'm impatient and wanted to play with a fun toy) ! the closest place that had the ad is Waco which is about 150 miles away! Oh well.

Trust me paying full price them price matching I think is the best way to go b/c you can send in the receipt where it says you paid full price so it is less likely they will deny the rebate.

Also for all you people unfamilar with 802.11b! USE WEP ENCRYPTION! If you leave your Access Point to default settings it will work. But since it is wireless the signals go probbably far beyond your property (unless you live in a HUGE house). Therefore people can go driving around with a client card (PC card in a laptop), and search for wireless signals and surf the web, or steal files (depending on your network security), etc. There have been a few cases where movie pirates have used unsuspecting people's unsecured wireless networks to transmit their files, and while nobody has been convicted yet, but YOU are ultimetely responsible for what happens on your network. If someone hacks the WEP password (which is possible for 40/64-bit encryption, 128-bit takes an excessively long time, like 6-8 months) then it is not your problem because the hacker used rather extreme methods and you attempted to secure your network.

Security is a huge issue about wireless networks, in fact the US govermnent cannot use it due to security flaws. And most fortune 500 companies either will not use it or implement further encryption beyond 128-bit WEP.

Bought the AP from OM.

Then went to CC with receipt in hand. I had this feeling that I should have gone with a certain salesperson to ring me up.

I went to go pay, and showed the guy the receipt. He says he has to go run it by the manager, to which she says no. The original guy who helped me, went back to her and asked again, but he says she won't.

I think if I had the first guy check me out, I would have had it.

Bastards! :disgust:

Then it all goes downhill from there. He tries to give me some bullsh!t response that OM has old stock of the 900AP and that's why they're selling them for $59.99. He says that nothing else can explain the big price difference. He then walks back in the back to verify, then comes back and gives me two bullsh!t responses. He says the two are NOT the same...the version CC carries is newer b/c:

manager tried that same crap with me..took an HOUR of standing around before they got it.. manager told the guy helping me to try and say a couple things
to get me to back off. (yea i over heard..fool didnt know i was there) 1 of the things he said was that they must have it on clearance and thats why
its so cheap. during that hour they were checking the OM website on their broadband display to check the item. so i calmly showed the guy that
THEY were the ones clearancing them out not OM.. manager sat there with a dumb look on his fast for another 5 mins before saying ok..
man was that priceless

Buy it full price at CC (buy from an employee). Either goto a diffrent CC, or wait a day or something. Go back with the ad and receipt (Don't bring the access point or the rebate paper). Have them PM it chances are they won't know about the rebate.

Has anyone done this successfully in Dallas? I can't seem to find the deals working here and they won't PM it otherwise.

I finally got this done at the Fairlawn, Ohio store. At first the manager was giving me crap about it must be an Office Max clearence item so he wouldn't do it. I asked him what that had to do with it and he said "everything". He then checked the local OM store and they had it in stock for the $89.99 price so then he did the deal. My total "out the store cost" was just $50.74! Now to send in for the $50 rebate....

BTW, the CC store may have this item in stock even though the web site shows it not available for pick up at that store. That was the case with me.

Yes I did Both me and a friend did it. Your right the paper doesn't have the OM ad yet, but will probbably next week. But I'm impatient and did it now. I PMed it from a printout of the sales ad from Waco. Store off the North Dallas Tollway (near the Galleria) gave me all kinds of greif but eventually PMed it. Then we went to the store next to Vista Ridge Mall (we didn't want to look too suspcious and do both at the same store) and that guy PMed it no questions asked took 3 mins. Of course depends on your CSR but we didn't have any big problems. Of course we both purchased at full price then PMed down so they don't know about the rebate.

OK, I got this deal to work--and for all you people who live in an area where the OM deal is not happening there, read on. I found that the Kansas City area store ads didn't have the $59 price, but a town 3 hrs away had it for $59. So this is what I did:

First, I bought it online with quick pickup at one of my stores (they are all gone now--good luck on this one). The rebate didn't even print out when I picked it up last Sat.

Next, on Monday, I went to OM and talked to the manager, and asked why I could drive 3 hrs and get a lower price? He said the deal happened last week (he thought--maybe like the FL stores--I don't know if it did, I didn't look last week). But he was nice and pricematched to the sale ad I printed from Officemax.com for the other town. $59.99

I next went back to CC and got the pricematch, using my receipt, the box from OM, and the OM I printed from the web. It worked, I got the 110% ($132). They didn't know about, or didn't care about the rebate (whew--that was my only worry ).

Finally, I took the OM box back for a return (to a different store--didn't want to tick off the nice manager .

It was a lot of work, but I think it can be done this way for those of you whose OM isn't having the sale this week. Good luck. Great deal, now I just need to hook this up to my free D-Link router I got last year from CC. Gotta love these PM's.

Thanks to all who helped and for the heads up.

Well my story is similiar. I went to the local CC but the Manager trapped me with the rebate and said he would pricematch it but would include the $50 rebate such that the total after rebate comes down to 59.99. I sweared at him#@$ and left. While i was leaving, i also heard the announcement "Calling ALL Tech Salesman to TRAINING ROOM" lol so i guess they were gonna be alarmed. Now i was really pissed so i went to OM and purchased it for 59.99 with the printed ad (orignal was 89.99 but the ad was detailed and the Manager was Nice). Next i went to the CC in the neighbouring town (High Point, NC) and they had two of those babies left. So i picked up one (in hopes that if it works, ill get the second one too) and headed towards the counter. A white trash rep said..he wont do it.. here are some of the excuses
* Ahhh... cant do it man...OM is crazy..they cant do this.
* Yo..this aint possible man...This must be clearance shi*
* This is a web printout man...cant do it..
*Today is sunday... cant do it (what the helll???)
Then came the democrat manager..Who said she wont do it as she is positive that it is not the same product and that she is loosing $120 on this. She also said they normally pricematch with a diff of $10..I said I have the product in the trunk of my car that i bought from OM...you want me to get it.. i showed her the OM receipt upon which she asked the white trash rep to call OM. I quickly gave himt he OM number that had the 59.99 price..So he calls...and verifies the price.."So you are sayin if i walk my ASS in rite now, you gonna give that shi* to me for 59.99?? OM- Yes Sir" LOL that was funny. Anyways she let me take one..when i tried to get the second one also, she says NOPE..you can only have one.. i asked why..she says i have the right to limit quantities.
Well i didnt complain, i just grabbed it and rushed home before the 4 MIB managers called the cops on me.
Anyone wanting CC receipts, lemme know.
Best of luck.

FYI: Greensboro, NC has 2 of them in stock
High Point, NC has 1 in stock

«Everytime I go on Officemax.com....»

Umm...it is an in-store feature. You can get the deal at a local Office Max if you print out the feature list from one of the areas that has it (Chico, Waco, Albuquerque, etc.) and take that to the store. The in-store price of the access point is now $89.99, if you use the special list, you get a $30 "instant rebate" for a final price of $59.99

HELP!!!!! Ok I have a PROBLEM!!!

I bought the AP from OM @ 59.99 and went to CC to PM.

They PMed it --- HOWEVER!!! - The manager ripped up the rebate and on top of that the woman at the counter was a beotch and she added this to it ->

CM REBATE "NOT" TO BE GIVEN TO CUSTOMER. ALREADY PRICE ADJUSTED OFFICE MAX.

Now what do I DO??!?! She also said that CC will see this or something to that extent...

Can I remove that when I send the Rebate? And How do I even get the rebate?

I looked on CC.com but couldn't find it under the REBATES section.

HELP!!!! HELP!!! PLEASE!!!!

email me @ topsitez@speakeasy.org

There is no rebate for this item at OfficeMax. The rebate is only good if purchased at Circuit City!

To find the rebate at CC, do a search on "d-link" and look for the DWL900AP. Click on it and on the item detail page, there is a link to the $50 rebate.

All you have to do is go to any Circuit City and request a duplicate receipt . Then go to the Circuit City web site and print out the rebate form and attach your duplicate receipt.

Another option is to go to a different CC and ask for a copy of your receipt. They can look it up by using your credit card number. Tell them you lost it and you need it for a rebate.

Beat me to it Athena!
